THIS WEEK IN BLUE JACKETS HISTORY
Nov. 7, 2003 –
David Vyborny recorded the lone hat trick of his NHL career to lead the Blue Jackets to a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers at Nationwide Arena. Columbus took a 2-0 lead when Vyborny and Geoff Sanderson scored 56 seconds apart midway through the first period. Vyborny added goals in the second and third periods to seal the win.

Oct. 26 – Assigned D Nate Guenin to the Springfield Falcons (AHL)… INJURY REPORT: Placed LW Ethan Moreau (broken hand, Oct. 19 vs. Anaheim; out four to six weeks)… D Mike Commodore (upper body injury; day-to-day)… C Andrew Murray (lower body injury, Oct. 1 at Washington; out 2-3 weeks)… D Jan Hejda (lower body injury) is day-to-day… LW Kristian Huselius (lower body injury, Oct. 23 at Chicago; day-to-day).

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Oct. 25 – at COLUMBUS 2, PHILADELPHIA 1:
Steve Mason made 28 saves and the Jackets got goals from Kyle Wilson and Derick Brassard to beat the defending Eastern Conference champions at Nationwide Arena. The Jackets took a 1-0 lead on Wilson's first NHL goal and pushed the lead to 2-0 when Brassard scored on the power play midway through the second period. Ville Leino spoiled Mason’s shutout bid at 14:59 of the third… Oct. 28 – at COLUMBUS 3, EDMONTON 2 (SO): Rick Nash and Nikita Filatov scored in the shootout and Steve Mason stopped both Edmonton attempts after making 25 saves in regulation to give Columbus the win. Samuel Pahlsson and Kyle Wilson scored in regulation for the Jackets, who outshot the Oilers 41 to 27. Devan Dubnyk made 39 saves and Taylor Hall, the first overall pick in last June's entry draft, tallied 1-1-2 for Edmonton … Oct. 31 – at COLORADO 5, COLUMBUS 1: Colorado got 33 saves from Peter Budaj and goals from five different players to hand the Blue Jackets their first road loss of the season and snap their three-game winning streak. The Avs broke open a tight game when David Liffiton and Paul Stastny scored 44 seconds apart midway through the second period. Columbus’ Derick Brassard netted his third goal in the last four games with a third period power play tally. The Jackets outshot the Avalanche 34 to 31 in the game.

TEAM NEWS & NOTES
The Blue Jackets posted a 6-4-0 record in October, marking the third time in the last four years the club has been over .500 during the season's first month… The club has gone 23-18-2 in October since 2007 compared to 17-39-8 from 2000-07… This week's schedule begins a stretch that has Columbus playing four of its next five games at Nationwide Arena… The Jackets rank fifth in the NHL in face-off percentage (53.9 pct.) led by Antoine Vermette, who ranks seventh in the league at 59.8 pct…. Columbus is 5-1-0 in one-goal games, which ranks second in the NHL (Washington, 3-0-0)… The Jackets are tied for 11th in the NHL with 152 blocked shots.

BRASS BONANZA
C Derick Brassard, who was held goalless the first six games, lit the lamp in back-to-back games Oct. 23-25. He now has points in four-straight games after scoring his third goal of the season this past Saturday at Colorado. He has collected 3-1-4 during the streak after being held to 0-1-1 the first six games of the season. His goal Oct. 25 vs. Philadelphia was the game-winner, his first since Nov. 8, 2008 vs. Calgary, a span of 103 games. He ranks second on the club in shots with 29 to his credit and has registered at least one shot on goal in all but one game this season.

KLESLA STANDS TALL ON BLUELINE
D Rostislav Klesla is off to a strong start in 2010-11 after missing most of last season due to injury. While he has tallied 0-2-2 in 10 games, he is among NHL leaders in two categories – blocked shots and plus/minus. He currently leads the club and ranks fourth in the NHL with 31 blocked shots. He also leads all Blue Jackets and ranks ninth-T among NHL defensemen with a +6 plus/minus rating and is third on the club in ice time, averaging 20:12 per game.

SWEET HOME COLUMBUS
G Mathieu Garon stopped 28-of-29 shots in a 2-1 win over Philadelphia on Oct. 25, which raised his record to 7-0-4 with a 2.12 goals-against average in 14 home games as a Blue Jacket. He is 2-0-0 with a 1.61 goals-against average and .938 save percentage in three games so far this season to improve to 14-9-6 with a 2.71 GAA, .906 SV% and two shutouts in 41 games with Columbus.

PLAYER NOTES
RW Chris Clark has points in four of the past seven games after being held to 0-2-2 the previous 24 games (dating back to last season) and leads the team in points with 0-6-6 in eight games. His +3 plus/minus rating leads all club forwards and ranks third overall… Rookie C Kyle Wilson scored his first NHL goal vs. Philadelphia on Oct. 25 and registered his second career multi-point game (0-2-2 at Colorado on Dec. 15 with Washington) with 1-1-2 the following game vs. Edmonton on Oct. 28 to give him 2-1-3 in five games this season… D Marc Methot has registered 0-5-5 and is +4 with 15 blocked shots and 17 hits in 10 games this season, ranking second on the club in assists, points (tied) and plus/minus… LW R.J. Umberger, who played in the 400th game of his NHL career vs. Philadelphia on Oct. 25, has collected 4-1-5 with two shorthanded goals and is +2 in 10 games this season… LW Rick Nash is three assists shy of 200 for his NHL career (230-197-424 in 527 games).

CHRIS CLARK TO READ TO KIDS AT HILLARD LIBRARY NEXT MONDAY, NOV. 8
LW Chris Clark will be reading books to kids at the Hilliard branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library (4772 Cemetery Road) on Monday, Nov. 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. He will be joined by Stinger at the event, which is part of the Blue Jackets Book Jackets program that encourages children in grades K-8 to spend more time reading.

MILITARY NIGHT SET FOR WEDNESDAY, NOV. 10
The Jackets invite all fans to honor our nation’s service men and women on Wednesday, Nov. 10 when the club hosts the St. Louis Blues on Military Night in partnership with the American Patriot Program, which honors a wounded combat veteran from one of the branches of the armed forces. This individual will be presented with a special goalie stick during the game.
