Feb. 2, 2002 – Espen Knutsen becomes the first player in club history to represent Columbus at the NHL All-Star Game. He scores a goal and adds an assist to help the World Team beat the North American squad 8-5 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Knusten also becomes the first player from Norway to appear in the All-Star Game.

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
Jan. 25 – Anaheim 3, at COLUMBUS 2: Anaheim’s Teemu Selanne and Cam Fowler scored power play goals during a five-minute man advantage in the game’s first 5:13 to give the Ducks a 2-0 lead en route to the win. The Jackets twice cut two-goal deficits to one on goals by Rick Nash and Derick Brassard and outshot the Ducks 37 to 22, including 13 to 5 in the third period, but could not cap the comeback as Jonas Hiller made 35 saves in net for the Ducks.

JACKETS HIT THE SECOND HALF LOOKING TO CONTINUE IMPROVED PLAY
The Blue Jackets have posted a 3-1-2 record in their last six games. During the club’s improved record, it has outscored its opponents 20 (3.33) to 18 (3.00), converted 6-of-24 power play attempts (25 pct.) and outshot the opposition 197(32.8) to 158 (26.3). The offensive surge continues a trend as the Jackets have scored 41 goals over the past 14 games (2.93) compared to 30 goals in their previous 15 outings (2.00). The power play has converted 8-of-35 attempts over the last 10 games (22.9 pct.) and tallied twice a game for the first time this season vs. Anaheim on Jan. 25 (2-of-5). In addition, the Jackets have killed off 18-of-22 opponent’s power plays (81.8 percent) over the last seven games after killing off 56-of-80 (70.0 percent) the previous 19 outings.

TEAM NEWS & NOTES
The Blue Jackets will play seven of their next 11 games at home after playing eight of 11 on the road in January… Through 49 games, the Jackets are averaging 30.1 shots per game, which is just over one shot per game more than the club record of 29.0 set in 2008-09… Columbus has registered 40 or more shots a club-record five times this season… The Jackets rank sixth in the NHL with 1,300 hits and are eighth in the league in face-off percentage at 51.2 pct.

NASH ALL-STAR RECAP
LW/RW Rick Nash, who enters the week riding an eight-game point streak (5-4-9), made his fifth-straight All-Star Game appearance Sunday at RBC Center in Raleigh. The Jackets captain scored a goal and added an assist for Team Staal, which fell 11-10 to Team Lidstrom. Here is a look at how Nash has fared in each of his five All-Star Game appearances:

BRASSARD CLOSING IN ON CAREER-HIGH FOR POINTS
C Derick Brassard registered his fifth multi-point outing of the season with 1-1-2 vs. Anaheim on Jan. 25 to give him points in five of the past six games (3-5-8). With 12-22-34 in 49 games, he has set a career high for goals and is two points shy of the 9-27-36 he tallied in 79 games a year ago. The Jackets are 17-7-3 this season when he tallies a point and he leads the club in power play goals (5, tied), while ranking second in assists and points and third in goals. He has at least one shot on goal in all but two games this season.

VORACEK PICKING UP STEAM
RW Jakub Voracek has collected points in five of the last six games, tallying 1-6-7 during that span. He has collected 4-10-14 the past 15 games after being held to 0-3-3 the previous 10 outings to raise his season totals to 9-23-32 with a +4 plus/minus rating (tops among club forwards) in 47 games. Columbus is 17-5-3 this season when he registers a point.

PLAYER NOTES
D Fedor Tyutin has picked up points in seven of his last eight games (3-6-9) and 4-9-13 over the last 15 outings… D Grant Clitsome has collected 2-4-6, 4 PIM, is +1 and has averaged 19:28 TOI in seven games since being recalled from Springfield (AHL) with points in four of the last six games… RW Jared Boll has scored two goals in his last six games… D Marc Methot, who has tallied 0-15-15 and is +7 in 44 games this season, is one game shy of 200 in his NHL career (6-38-44 in 199 games)… D Anton Stralman is three games shy of 200 in his NHL career (10-56-66 in 197 games).

FIFTH ALUMNI NIGHT FEATURING GEOFF SANDERSON SET FOR SATURDAY
The Blue Jackets’ fifth Alumni Night of their 10th Season, presented by OhioHealth, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5 when the team hosts the Edmonton Oilers and welcomes back Geoff Sanderson. Selected by the club in the 2000 Expansion Draft, Sanderson collected the first hat trick in club history and tallied 88-80-168 in 261 games with the club from 2000-05. He is the only Blue Jacket other than Rick Nash to score 30 or more goals in a season (2000-01 and 2002-03). Sanderson will drop the ceremonial first puck prior to the game and sign autographs for fans after the game’s conclusion on the Nationwide Arena concourse. In addition, all fans in attendance will receive a 10th season Blue Jackets puck courtesy of OhioHealth.

BLUE JACKETS CELEBRITY BARTENDING EVENT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT BROTHERS
Blue Jackets Steve Mason, Jakub Voracek and Derick Brassard will work behind the bar at Brothers Bar & Grill (477 Park St. in the Arena District) on Wednesday as part of the Anheuser Busch Celebrity Bartending series. The event, hosted by QFM96’s Archie, will be held from 7-9 p.m. with the players serving from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation.

CBJ FOUNDATION’S 10TH SEASON, $10,000 ASSIST PROGRAM LAUNCHED
In conjunction with the team’s 10th NHL season, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation is celebrating a Decade of Giving by announcing the “10th Season $10,000 Assist,” a contest in which fans of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation’s official Facebook page may nominate a favorite non-profit organization for the chance to receive a $10,000 donation. One winning organization will be selected and awarded a $10,000 check when the Jackets host New Jersey on Sunday, Mar. 20. Through Feb. 21, individuals interested in nominating a favorite charity may visit www.facebook.com and search Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation, “Like” the Foundation page and complete the entry form.
