BLUE JACKETS RETURN HOME LOOKING TO HALT SKID
The Blue Jackets play three of their next four games at Nationwide Arena, looking to snap a franchise record-tying nine-game winless streak (0-7-2). The skid matches a 0-6-3 stretch from Dec. 4-23, 2003. Columbus' last win was a 3-0 victory over Florida on Dec. 9. Columbus will also try to halt an 11-game road winless streak at the NY Islanders on Tuesday. The Jackets have gone 0-8-3 since a 4-1 win at Dallas on Nov. 19.

TYUTIN NAMED TO RUSSIAN OLYMPIC TEAM
Three Blue Jackets players were selected to represent their native countries in February's Olympic Games in Vancouver. D Fedor Tyutin was named to Team Russia on Chrismas Day. He notched one assist, four penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in eight games at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy and helped Russia win the gold medal at the 2008 World Championships as well as the 2002 and 2003 World Junior Championships.

MODIN, PAHLSSON NAMED TO SWEDISH OLYMPIC TEAM
On Dec. 27, LW Fredrik Modin and C Samuel Pahlsson were among the players selected to represent defending Olympic gold medalist Sweden at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. Both players won gold for Sweden at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy. Modin is a member of the Triple Gold Club, which consists of 22 players who have won the three most prestigious championships in hockey – a Stanley Cup, Olympic gold medal and World Championships gold medal. He has also represented Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey and at the World Junior Championships. Pahlsson is a veteran of numerous international competitions, including the World Cup of Hockey, World Championships and World Junior Championships.

VERMETTE STREAKING
C Antoine Vermette is riding a four-game points streak (2-2-4) and has collected points in six of his last eight games, registering 3-3-6 during that span. He has raised his season totals to 11-18-29 in 39 games, leading the club in assists and ranking second in points and third (tied) in goals. Since joining the Blue Jackets from Ottawa in a trade last March, Vermette has collected 18-24-42 in 56 games.

VORACEK ON PACE TO SHATTER TOTALS FROM ROOKIE SEASON
RW Jakub Voracek has tallied 8-15-23 in 39 games this season, including 1-4-5 in his last seven games. He is just one goal shy of the nine he scored as a rookie a year ago and is on pace to finish his second season with 17-31-48. He tallied 9-29-38 in 2008-09.

WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE
Blue Jackets prospects Nikita Filatov and Tomas Kubalik are competing in the World Junior Championships, which are currently being held in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan now through Jan. 4. Filatov was scoreless in Russia's 6-2 win over Austria this past Saturday. Kubalik has collected a goal and an assist in two games for the Czech Republic, who has dropped their first two games of the tournament. Filatov and Team Russia are back in action today with a game against Finland, while Kubalik and the Czech Republic play Austria on Tuesday.
