Dec. 26, 2005 – Nikolay Zherdev skated end-to-end and beat Chicago goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin with :24 left in regulation and Jaroslav Balastik scored at 2:35 of overtime as Columbus earned a 4-3 win over the Blackhawks at Nationwide Arena. Rostislav Klesla and Adam Foote added goals for Columbus, who also got 42 saves from Marc Denis.

Dec. 13 – at CALGARY 3, COLUMBUS 2 (OT): The Flames took a 2-0 lead 4:25 into the game before the Jackets came back on goals by Antoine Vermette (shorthanded at 18:25 of the second period) and Rick Nash (power play at 15:41 of the third) to force overtime. Jarome Iginla beat Mathieu Garon (20 saves-21 shots in relief of Steve Mason) at 3:49 of the extra session was the game-winner… Dec. 15 – at VANCOUVER 3, COLUMBUS 2 (OT): Ryan Kesler’s third goal of the game on the power play at 3:30 of overtime lifted Vancouver and spoiled another CBJ comeback. The Jackets overcame 1-0 and 2-1 deficits on goals by Derick Brassard and Tom Sestito to force overtime. Roberto Luongo (28 saves) outdueled Mathieu Garon (27 saves) to earn the win… Dec. 16 – at EDMONTON 6, COLUMBUS 3: Kristian Huselius collected his second career hat trick but it wasn’t enough as the Oilers scored four-straight goals to turn a 2-2 tie into a 6-2 margin en route to the win. The Jackets outshot the Oilers 40 to 36, including 23 to 13 in the first period… Dec. 18 – DALLAS 2, at COLUMBUS 1: Brad Richards scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner at 6:17 of the third period, and Kari Lehtonen made 35 saves to lead the Stars to the win despite being outshot 36 to 23. Fedor Tyutin scored the lone goal for Columbus, who also got 21 saves from Mathieu Garon.

Beginning with last Saturday's game vs. Dallas, the Blue Jackets are in a stretch that has them playing five-of-seven games at home preceding a stretch of eight-of-10 on the road between Jan. 2-22… Columbus is 12-2-0 when scoring the game's first goal but has done so just twice in the last 13 games (Nov. 28 at Detroit, Dec. 6 vs. Dallas)… The Jackets have converted 6-of-30 power play attempts over the past eight games (20.0 pct.)… Columbus has fired off 40 or more shots in four games this season, which is a franchise record, and is 3-1-0 in those games… The Blue Jackets are 15-2-0 when tied or leading the game heading into the third period.

LW Rick Nash became the franchise's all-time leader in games played (544) on Dec. 11 vs. the NY Rangers, surpassing former Jacket David Vyborny (113-204-317 in 543 games from 2000-08). With an assist on Kristian Huselius’ second goal at Edmonton on Dec. 16, Nash moved into a tie with Vyborny for the franchise record in that category with 204. He has now collected 244-204-448 in 548 career games.
HUSELIUS RETURNS WITH A BANG
LW Kristian Huselius returned to the lineup at Vancouver on Dec. 15 after missing 22-straight games due to injury and in his second game back registered his first hat trick as a Blue Jackets with three goals at Edmonton on Dec. 16. The hat trick was the first of the season by a Blue Jacket and 17th in franchise history (seventh on the road). Huselius' previous hat trick came on Dec. 13, 2007 at Tampa Bay while he was a member of the Calgary Flames. Huselius, who was the club's third-leading scorer with 3-40-63 in 74 games a year ago, has collected 6-2-8 in 10 games this season.
KLESLA BECOMES THIRD MEMBER OF CBJ "500 CLUB"
D Rostislav Klesla has registered 39-92-131 in 501 career games during his Blue Jackets/NHL career and became the third player in franchise history to reach the 500-mark at Vancouver on Dec. 15. He joins Rick Nash (548) and David Vyborny (543) as the only players to play in 500 games with the club. The Blue Jackets' first-ever draft pick (fourth overall in the 2000 Entry Draft), Klesla has tallied 1-7-8 and 17 penalty minutes in 31 games this season and is among NHL in plus/minus rating at +15.
LW Tom Sestito was recalled from Springfield (AHL) on Dec. 10, made his season debut vs. the NY Rangers on Dec. 11 and scored his first career NHL goal at Vancouver on Dec. 15 in his seventh career game… LW R.J. Umberger ran his consecutive games played streak with the Blue Jackets to 196 (198 overall dating to Apr. 2, 2008 with Philadelphia), surpassing David Vyborny (194 from Oct. 17, 2002-Dec. 20, 2005) for the second-longest in club history. Jason Chimera's243-game streak from Oct. 9, 2005-Apr. 5, 2008 is the longest by a Blue Jacket… C Antoine Vermette has collected 6-5-11 in his last 13 games compared to 3-4-7 in his first 19 outings this season… D Fedor Tyutin has 1-2-3 in his last six games… D Anton Stralman has picked up assists in his last three games.

LW Rick Nash and LW R.J. Umberger are among the 100 players who appear on the 2011 NHL All-Star Fan Balloting, which takes place Nov. 15-Jan. 3 at NHL.com and Facebook.com/NHL. Fans can select up to six players by position -- three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender -- without regard to the conference in which their teams play for in the 2011 NHL All-Star Game presented by Discover, which will be held at RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday, Jan. 30.
