(Northwest Division: 1st place)… Head Coach: Joe Sacco… Colorado has gone 4-1-0 in its last five games… The Avs are outscoring opponents by 1.16 goals in 5-on-5 play, which ranks ninth in the NHL… Players to Watch: C Paul Stastny (leads club with 8-26-34 in 35 games)… LW Wojtek Wolski (has 13-20-33 in 35 games)… G Craig Anderson (16-7-5, 2.57 GAA, .920 SV%, 3 SO in 29 games)… Jackets vs. Avalanche: 8-23-2 (5-11-1 at home, 3-12-1 on the road)… Columbus is 6-2-0 in its last eight games vs. Colorado, including a 4-0-0 mark in 2008-09… The Avs won the first meeting this season, 3-2, at Nationwide Arena on Dec. 5.

Dec. 14 –
Placed RW Derek Dorsett on Injured Reserve… Dec. 12 – Activated LW Fredrik Modin off Injured Reserve… Assigned C Derek MacKenzie to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL)… Dec. 9 – Activated RW Derek Dorsett off Injured Reserve… Dec. 8 – Acquired D Brandon Bell and C Tomas Kana from St. Louis in exchange for LW Pascal Pelletier.

Beginning with the Dec. 14 game vs. Nashville, the Blue Jackets will play 11 games in 20 days, culminating with the Jan. 2 home game vs. Colorado. The club will play six games at home and five on the road and the only back-to-back off days during that stretch are Dec. 24-25. The club will play four-straight road games between Dec. 19-26 – Dec. 19 at Colorado, Dec. 21 at Phoenix, Dec. 23 at Dallas and Dec. 26 at Detroit. Ten of the 11 games will come against Western Conference opponents with the exception being the Dec. 29 game at the New York Islanders.

RW Rick Nash continues to be on pace to have his best offensive season as he has tallied 16-17-33 in 32 games. He is on pace to register 41-44-85 in 82 games. He scored a career-high 41 goals in 2003-04 and registered career highs in assists and points in 2008-09 with 40-39-79 in 78 outings. He has collected 1-2-3 in his last two games and has picked up a point in 21-of-32 games this season. The club is 9-7-5 when he collects a point and 5-5-1 when he is shut out. Nash has registered four assists in his last six games after collecting just two helpers in his previous 13 games.

LW Raffi Torres has tallied 10-6-16 in 29 games this season and is already closing in on his scoring totals from the 2008-09 campaign when he notched 12-8-20 in 51 games. He leads the club and ranks 10th in the NHL with six power play goals, which are two more than he scored in the previous three seasons (165 games). Since Torres joined the Blue Jackets prior to last season, the club has gone 16-2-1 in games in which he has scored a goal.

The Blue Jackets have gone 2-6-4 since Nov. 21 and have not posted back-to-back wins since a three-game winning streak from Nov. 13-19… Columbus ranks fourth in the NHL on the power play at 23.0 pct… LW Fredrik Modin fired off four shots in 12:16 in his season debut on Dec. 12 vs. Anaheim after being activated from Injured Reserve earlier that day. The game marked his first since Mar. 5, 2009 at Nashville… LW Kristian Huselius has tallied 6-9-15 in his last 15 games… RW R.J. Umberger scored his 10th goal of the season on Dec. 12 vs. Anaheim and has picked up 4-4-8 in his last seven games… LW Jason Chimera scored a goal in three-straight games from Dec. 3-9 after enduring a 13-game goalless drought… C Derick Brassard has collected 1-7-8 in his last 12 games.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will be spreading holiday cheer to fans by giving away one prize package everyday for 12 days in the 12 Games of Christmas giveaway. The giveaway began today and continues through December 25. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used jackets of all sizes to upcoming Blue Jackets home games at Nationwide Arena through this Thursday, Dec. 17. All jackets collected will be donated to the Salvation Army's "Coats for Columbus" program and provided to local families in need. All donors will receive vouchers for discounts on Blue Jackets tickets and skating passes at all Chiller Ice Rinks. Jackets will also be accepted at the Dispatch Ice Haus, the Chiller Ice Rinks, and at the FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line team store locations at Nationwide Arena and The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.

The Blue Jackets and Atlas Butler are giving fans the chance to win a new high-efficiency furnace, two 2010-11 season tickets and an autographed jersey. To enter, fans can click on All registrants will receive a free furnace safety inspection courtesy of Atlas Butler and have a chance to purchase discounted tickets to select games through February. Fans can also register in-arena during home games on Dec. 17, Jan. 2 and Jan. 16.

Fans can give the gift of hockey with the Blue Jackets Holiday Pack presented by Giant Eagle, a Blue Jackets gift box containing two or more tickets to three different games, an autographed puck and a $10 Giant Eagle gift card. Purchasers may select from four different sets of games which come with a puck signed by one of four players – Steve Mason, R.J. Umberger, Antoine Vermette or Jakub Voracek. The packs start at $156 and are available through Thursday, Dec. 24. Additional tickets may be added to orders and payment plans featuring 50% down at time of purchase and 50% due on Jan. 15, 2010 are available on credit card orders. The Blue Jackets have several packages available for their New Year's Eve game vs. the Nashville Predators including:
New Year’s Eve Family Fun Pack – This enhanced edition of the Dispatch Family Value Pack starts at $25 per person and includes a game ticket, Sugardale hot dog, Pepsi, popcorn, UDF ice cream cone voucher and free admission to the Stinger's New Year's Eve Family Skate presented by 10TV at the Dispatch Ice Haus from 4-7 p.m. In addition to the pre-game open skate, families will enjoy hot chocolate and cookies and a visit by some animals from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium from 4-5 p.m. Finally, all kids will also receive a street hockey stick.

Crowne Plaza Downtown New Year's Eve Hockey Package – This features a pair of lower bowl tickets to the game, valet parking at the hotel, champagne toast at midnight, overnight accommodations and a New Year's Day Breakfast Buffet. Blue Jackets/Hyatt Regency New Year's Eve Party Combo – This package includes a game ticket and post-game party at the Hyatt Regency. Guests must be age 21 and over. The party includes access to all entertainment areas, beverages, hors d'oeuvres and champagne toast at midnight. Entertainment includes 17th Floor, Soul Kitchen, Lt. Dan's New Legs, Basic Rock Outfit, DJ Marino, Monaco, Chris Logsdon, The Fabulous Johnson Brother, Reaganomics, DJ Ant and Eldorado Karaoke. Upper bowl ticket and party admission is $145. Fans visiting participating central Ohio SUBWAY® locations can take advantage of the "4 Subs, 4 Stubs" promotion that provides all those who purchase four foot-long subs in one transaction a voucher redeemable for four select Blue Jackets tickets for just $5 each and four Blue Jackets/SUBWAY co-branded T-shirts. SUBWAY Fresh Seats are available for the following games: Dec. 14 vs. Nashville, Jan. 18 vs. St. Louis, Feb. 4 vs. Dallas, Mar. 2 vs. Vancouver and Mar. 15 vs. Edmonton. Fans will find specially-marked 12-bottle packs of Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light at participating grocery and convenience stores across central Ohio.
