DEC. 6 – BLUE JACKETS 3, at Montreal 2 (SO): Rick Nash scored the game-winner in the shootout as the Blue Jackets earned the win and concluded their four-game Canadian road trip with a record of 2-2-0. The Jackets took 1-0 and 2-1 leads on goals by Vinny Prospal and R.J. Umberger only to see the Canadiens score late in the first (Andrei Kostitsyn) and third (Brian Gionta) periods to tie the game. Curtis Sanford made 18 saves for Columbus, while Carey Price made 26 saves for Montreal… DEC. 8 – Nashville 4, at BLUE JACKETS 3 (OT): The Predators erased a 3-1 deficit in the game’s final 1:36 on goals by Patric Honqvist and Sergei Kostitsyn (power play) to tie the game and won it on Colin Wilson’s goal 1:45 into overtime. The Jackets jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Jeff Carter and Antoine Vermette and following a Mike Fisher tally pushed the advantage to 3-1 on a Derek Dorsett goal 1:24 into the third. The team’s combined for just 14 PIM in the game… DEC. 10 – Boston 5, at BLUE JACKETS 3: Columbus got goals from Rick Nash and Jeff Carter to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first before the defending Stanley Cup champs scored twice late in the period to tie the game at 2-2. Zdeno Chara’s power play goal early in the second gave Boston a 3-2 lead, which it held until R.J. Umberger scored at 16:02 of the second to tie the game at 3-3 heading into the third period. Joe Corvo’s second goal of the game gave the Bruins a 4-3 lead and Chris Kelly scored a power play goal late to seal the win. Tuukka Rask made 11 saves in the third period to pick up the win in relief of Tim Thomas (22 saves-25 shots), while Curtis Sanford made 24 saves for Columbus.
JACKETS TO HONOR VINNY PROSPAL PRIOR TO SATURDAY’S GAME VS. TAMPA BAY
The Blue Jackets will honor LW Vinny Prospal in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s game vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning to commemorate his playing in the 1,000th game of his NHL career on Nov. 25 vs. the Buffalo Sabres. That night, Prospal became the 268th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 games. Prospal, who appeared in 468 games with Tampa Bay in three stints with the club, has registered 234-469-703 in 1,007 games with the Blue Jackets, NY Rangers, Ducks, Lightning, Panthers, Senators and Flyers since making his NHL debut with Philadelphia on Mar. 5, 1997 vs. New Jersey. He picked up his 700th career point with an assist on Dec. 1 at Calgary and leads the Blue Jackets in points and assists and ranks second in goals with 7-16-23 in 29 games this season.

After opening the season 2-12-1 the first 15 games, Columbus has gone 6-5-3 its last 14 outings… The Blue Jackets rank fourth in the NHL in hits (718) and are 11th in face-off percentage (50.8 pct.)… The club is also among NHL leaders in shots on goal (9th/31.9 per game) and fewest shots allowed (7th/28.6 per game)… Columbus has gone 3-2-2 on the road since opening the season with a 0-7-1 mark in its first eight away games… The Jackets are 2-3 in shootouts this season with wins in their last two…After this week’s schedule that includes four games in six nights, the club will only play one game – Dec. 22 at Nashville – in the following seven days.
RW Rick Nash has tallied 5-4-9 – and added two shootout game-winning goals – with 44 shots on goal in his last 11 games to raise his season totals to 9-12-21 in 29 games… RW Derek Dorsett (day-to-day with lower body injury) has scored four goals in his last seven games and has set a career high with six, which ranks third on the club… D Nikita Nikitin has tallied 1-9-10 in 14 games since joining Columbus from St Louis and is averaging 25:20 TOI with the Jackets… C Jeff Carter has scored goals in back-to-back games for the second time this season… LW R.J. HALL OF FAMER CRAIG PATRICK JOINS JACKETS HOCKEY OPERATIONS STAFF
Craig Patrick was named senior advisor, hockey operations for the Blue Jackets on Dec. 7. One of the most respected figures in hockey during a playing, coaching and management career that has spanned nearly four decades, he served as the executive vice president and general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1989-2006 and helped lead the club to two Stanley Cup titles (1991 and 1992), five division championships and 11 playoff berths. In 2001, Patrick was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, becoming the fourth member and third generation of his family to enter the Hall, joining his grandfather Lester, his father Lynn and his great-uncle Frank. He was named Sporting News NHL Executive of the Year three times, won the 2000 Lester Patrick Award for contributions to hockey in the United States and was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996. He also served as general manager of the NY Rangers from 1981-86, was general manager of the 2002 U.S. Olympic Team (silver medal) and was assistant general manager/assistant coach for the gold medal winning 1980 U.S. Olympic Team.

D Grant Clitsome will be reading to kids at the Dublin branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, located at 75 N. High St., on Tuesday, December 20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The appearance, which will include a visit by CBJ mascot Stinger, is part of the Columbus Blue Jackets Book Jackets Program Powered by AEP, which encourages students in grades K-8 to spend more of their free time reading. The program helps students become All-Star readers with updated goals. Students keep "score" of minutes read throughout a four-week period and are rewarded with Blue Jackets prizes upon completion.
