NOV. 29 – at Vancouver 4, BLUE JACKETS 1:
Three players registered multi-point games for the Canucks, while Cory Schneider stopped 47-of-48 shots to lead Vancouver to the win. The 48 shots by the Blue Jackets set franchise records for shots in a road game and shots in a regulation game. Alexandre Burrows, Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin had a goal and assist each. Samuel Pahlsson scored shorthanded at 4:27 of the third to cut the Canucks’ lead to 2-1, but Kesler scored 1:28 later to put the game away… DEC. 1 –BLUE JACKETS 4, at Calgary 3 (SO): Trailing 3-1 late in the third, Columbus scored twice in the final 4:55 of regulation to force overtime and Rick Nash scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Jackets a road win. Nikita Nikitin notched his first three-point game with 1-2-3, including his first goal of the season at 15:55 of the third and an assist on Nash’s game-tying goal with 57.1 seconds left in regulation. Curtis Sanford stopped 32 shots in regulation and overtime, as well as all three Flames’ shooters in the shootout… DEC. 2 – at Edmonton 6, BLUE JACKETS 3: Columbus took at 2-1 lead into the third period, but Edmonton scored five times in the final frame to record the win. Derek Dorsett had his first two-goal game, including his first career shorthanded goal, but the Oilers had five players register multi-point games, capped by a Ryan Jones hat trick. Jones’ first two goals were sandwiched around a Ladislav Smid goal in the first 8:06 of the third period to give Edmonton a 4-2 edge. Dorsett’s second cut the lead to 4-3, but Ales Hemsky (15:57) and Jones’ third (empty net, 19:22) sealed the win for the Oilers.

After opening the season 2-12-1 the first 15 games, Columbus has gone 5-4-2 its last 11 games… The Blue Jackets have gone 9-for-51 (17.6 percent) on the power play the last 12 games after going 6-for-65 (9.2 percent) the season’s first 14 games… The penalty kill has killed off 14-of-16 (87.5 percent) opponent power plays the last six games after going 18-of-25 (72.0 percent) the previous seven games… Columbus has fired 30-or-more shots on goal in 18-of-26 games and ranks eighth in the NHL in shots on goal per game (32.2), while allowing fewer than 30 shots in 13-of-26 games and ranking 10th in the NHL in shots against per game (29.1)… The club is 6-4-1 when scoring the first goal of the game, compared to 1-12-2 when the opponent scores first.


DORSETT NOTCHES A PAIR OF FIRSTS: RW Derek Dorsett registered the first multi-goal game of his NHL career with two goals at Edmonton on December 2. His first goal was the first shorthanded goal of his NHL career, while his two-point outing matched a career high (set three times previously). He has 4-2-6 the last 13 games after being held to 1-0-1 the season’s first 13 games. He had two hits against the Oilers to push his season total to 70, which ranks 18th in the NHL in that category.

NIKITIN BREAKS OUT WITH THREE-POINT GAME: D Nikita Nikitin snapped a 40-game goalless skid with his first of the season at Calgary on December 1. He had last scored Feb. 6 at Tampa Bay (with St. Louis). He added two assists on the night to mark the first three-point game of his NHL career. He has assists in seven of 10 games since being acquired by from St. Louis on November 11. He has played 23-plus minutes in all but two games, including 27:21 against the Flames.


MacKENZIE INCHES CLOSER TO CBJ PLUS/MINUS MARK: C Derek MacKenzie enters this week’s games with assists in back-to-back games. He had gone 21 games without an assist prior to registering assists at Calgary on December 1 and at Edmonton on December 2. He was +2 against the Oilers and is now +6 on the season to lead the Jackets in that category. He has been plus or even in 24 of 26 games this season and is +20 for his Blue Jackets career, which has spanned 125 games from 2007-11. The franchise record for plus/minus rating stands at +23 by defenseman Jan Hejda set in 302 games from 2007-11.

C Mark Letestu scored his fourth goal of the season and third power play goal at Edmonton on December 2. After being held without a goal 11 games prior to being acquired by Columbus on Nov. 8, he has scored four goals the last 12 games. His three power play goals are one shy of matching his career high of four set last season. He is expected to play his 100th career NHL game against Boston on Saturday as he has recorded 19-14-33 in 97 games… LW Rick Nash has points (4-3-7) in five of the last eight games after being held to 0-2-2 the previous six games… D James Wisniewski has assists in back-to-back games and has points in nine of his last 17 games… LW R.J. Umberger played the 500th game of his NHL career at Edmonton on December 2. He has registered 126-155-281 during his career with Philadelphia and Columbus and has played in a Blue Jackets record 272-straight games, a streak that began Oct. 10, 2008… D Marc Methot has 1-3-4 the last 11 games after being held pointless the previous 45 games.

Blue Jackets forwards Jeff Carter, Rick Nash and R.J. Umberger are among the players that appear on the 2012 NHL All-Star Fan Balloting™. When the voting concludes, the top six vote-getters by position – three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender – will take part in the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game® on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. The remaining All-Star Game participants will be announced at a later date.

NASCR Nationwide Series Champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and members of his No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford team visit the Blue Jackets on Thursday, Dec. 8 as they take on the Nashville Predators. Fans can visit the Bud light Terrace for autographs during the first intermission and test their driving skills in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race simulator and take photos with the show car and championship trophy throughout the evening.

In celebration of the spirit of the season, the Blue Jackets invite fans to join them in supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program by donating a new and unwrapped toy during collections at home games on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 10. The Blue Jackets players’ wives and girlfriends, known as the Lady Jackets, will be collecting the toys alongside volunteers from Central Ohio Lima Company 3rd Battalion 25th Marines on the designated game nights.

The Blue Jackets players’ wives and girlfriends present Player Favorite Basket Silent Auction and Raffle featuring customized gift baskets filled with a variety of items that reflect the personality and off-ice interests of each individual Blue Jacket. The baskets will be available for bidding or raffle during the four home games Dec. 10-17. Proceeds will benefit CHOICES, central Ohio’s leading organization addressing domestic violence.

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation announces the release of the 2012 Pucks and Paws Calendar presented by Petland. The calendar features Blue Jackets players alongside assistance dogs and puppies in training from Canine Companions for Independence®, the nation’s largest non-profit provider of trained assistance dogs to children, adults and veterans with physical disabilities. Priced at $15, the calendar will be available starting Thursday, Dec. 8 and features players pictured with the dogs and puppies from Canine Companions include Rick Nash, Jared Boll, Grant Clitsome, Derek MacKenzie and Marc Methot while photos of Matt Calvert, Mark Dekanich, Steve Mason, R.J. Blue Jackets hockey returns to FOX Sports Ohio in 2011-12 with 79 live telecasts in high definition.
