Mar. 20 – Chicago 5, at BLUE JACKETS 1: The Blackhawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game’s first 8:22 and went on to cap a season sweep of the Blue Jackets. Duncan Keith collected four assists, Patrick Sharp added two goals and Corey Crawford made 24 saves for Chicago, while Rick Nash tallied the lone goal for the Blue Jackets. Chicago was 2-of-2 on the power play, while Columbus went 0-of-2 with the man advantage… Mar. 23 – at BLUE JACKETS 5, Carolina 1: R.J. Umberger collected the third hat trick of his NHL career and Steve Mason made 39 saves as the Jackets won their fifth-straight game vs. the Hurricanes. Columbus held a slim 2-1 lead late in the second period before Umberger scored his second of the game at the 14:36 mark to push the advantage to 3-1. He capped the hat trick at 14:58 of the third. Vinny Prospal and Mark Letestu also scored for the Jackets, while Derick Brassard picked up three assists… Mar. 25 – Edmonton 6, at BLUE JACKETS 3: The Oilers used a five-goal second period to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 5-2 lead and went on to post their first win at Nationwide Arena since Nov. 18, 2008. The Jackets led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Mark Letestu. Edmonton tied the game at 1-1 on a Ryan Jones goal early in the second before Columbus took a 2-1 lead when Rick Nash scored on a penalty shot at the 7:42 mark. The Oilers erupted for four goals in a span of 7:49 and killed off two Columbus power plays at the start of the third period before Derick Brassard’s power play goal cut the lead to 5-3 at 14:22 of the third. Eric Belanger’s empty net goal rounded out the scoring.

UMBERGER RECORDS 22ND HAT TRICK IN BLUE JACKETS HISTORY
LW R.J. Umberger scored three goals in a 5-1 win over Carolina on Mar. 23 to record the 22nd hat trick in franchise history and 13th by a Jacket at Nationwide Arena. The hat trick was the third of Umberger’s NHL career – Nov. 30, 2009 vs. St. Louis and Dec. 11, 2007 vs. Pittsburgh (with the Philadelphia Flyers). He has registered 14-18-32 in 70 games this season, including 11-14-25 in his last 44 outings.
NASH BACK ON TRACK, EYES FIFTH-STRAIGHT 30-GOAL SEASON
RW Rick Nash has scored goals in two of the last three games, including his second career penalty shot goal vs. Edmonton on Mar. 25, to raise his season totals to 26-24-50 in 75 games. With seven games remaining, he needs four goals to hit the 30-goal mark for the fifth-straight season and seventh time in the last eight campaigns.
