The Blue Jackets open this week with road games at Dallas (Tuesday) and Phoenix (Thursday), looking to extend their four-game winning streak. The club has also won three-straight on the road, which is tied for the most in club history (Jan. 8-11, 2003; 2-1 at Minnesota, 3-2 at Vancouver, 7-2 at Calgary).

Columbus is 5-3-0 under new head coach Ken Hitchcock with all three losses coming by one-goal. The Blue Jackets have outscored the opposition 26 to 12 under Hitchcock after being outscored 64 to 42 prior to his joining the club. The winningest coach in Stars history, he will make his second return to Dallas on Tuesday to face the team he coached from 1996-02. He led the Flyers to a 2-2 tie at Dallas on Dec. 29, 2003 in his first trip back.

The Blue Jackets enter the week having given up three goals or less in their last eight games.

The Blue Jackets set a franchise record for consecutive minutes without giving up a goal from Dec. 1-9 (166:06).

Columbus set a franchise record by scoring five power play goals vs. Ottawa on Dec. 10. The previous record was four set on five previous occasions.

G Fredrik Norrena went 2-0-0 with a 1.24 goals-against average, .964 save percentage and one shutout in three games last week, along with setting a franchise record by not allowing a goal in 155:28 of action. After registering his first career shutout at Edmonton on Dec. 2, he made 42 saves in a 3-0 win at Colorado on Nov. 5 to become the second goaltender in club history to post back-to-back shutouts (Ron Tugnutt, 2000-01). He is 4-4-0 with a 2.10 GAA, .925 SV% and two shutouts in 11 games and has won his last four starts, posting a 1.00 GAA and .987 SV% in those games.

D Ron Hainsey tallied a career-high 1-2-3 vs. Ottawa on Dec. 10 and has 2-4-6 in his last five games.

C Sergei Fedorov has tallied 4-5-9 in his last eight games and has 7-9-16 in his last 19 outings.

C Dan Fritsche has collected 3-4-7 in his last four games and has raised his season totals to 5-7-12 in 24 games.

RW Anson Carter is riding a four-game point streak (2-4-6) and has 4-5-9 in his last seven outings.

D Bryan Berard is two points shy of 300 in his NHL career (71-227-298 in 554 games).

Dec. 17 Player Appearance – Blue Jackets players Dan Fritsche and Aaron Johnson will be signing copies of the Blue Jackets “Hockey Holidays” CD at The Blueline Store located at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing on Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. The CD was recorded by several Blue Jackets players and is on sale now for $10. Proceeds benefit the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Family Resource Center at Children’s Hospital and the Riverside Cancer Service’s KidShare program.
