NOV. 21 – at BLUE JACKETS 4, Calgary 1:
Jeff Carter scored a pair of goals and Vinny Prospal collected three assists to lead the Jackets to the win. Carter and Antoine Vermette scored in the game’s first 6:45 as Columbus jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and pushed it to 3-0 on Carter’s second goal early in the second period. Mark Giordano’s power play goal midway through the second was the lone blemish for Jackets goaltender Curtis Sanford, who made 27 saves in net. Rick Nash added an empty net goal late to round out the scoring… NOV. 23 – at New Jersey 2, BLUE JACKETS 1 (SO): Martin Brodeur made 35 saves, including 18 in the third period and overtime, and stopped both Columbus shootout attempts to lift the Devils to the win. Jared Boll’s third period goal erased New Jersey’s 1-0 lead that came on a second period goal by Dainius Zubrus and forced the extra session. Curtis Sanford made 23 saves for the Jackets, who out shot the Devils 36 to 24 in the game… NOV. 25 – at BLUE JACKETS 5, Buffalo 1: Rick Nash scored two goals, while Ryan Johansen, Jeff Carter and James Wisniewski tallied a pair of assists as the Jackets registered their most lopsided win of the season. Columbus got first period goals from Mark Letestu and Nash and second period tallies just 12 seconds apart from Marc Methot and R.J. Umberger to build a 4-0 lead just 4:29 into the middle period. Jordan Leopold’s goal at 8:01 of the second got Buffalo on the board, but Nash’s second just 6:06 later wrapped up the scoring. Curtis Sanford made 28 saves to earn the win, while the Jackets chased Jhonas Enroth (14 saves-18 shots) who was replaced by Drew MacIntyre (15 saves-16 shots) following Umberger’s goal… NOV. 27 – at BLUE JACKETS vs. St. Louis: Curtis Sanford stopped 27 of 29 shots, but David Backes’ power play goal at 7:49 of the third snapped a 1-1 tie and handed Columbus the loss. After a scoreless first period, Derek Dorsett scored at 5:06 of the second only to be matched by former Blue Jacket Kris Russell at 19:52.

Columbus is 3-1-2 in its past six games and earned points in five-straight games Nov. 17-25 for the first time since Feb. 11-25… The club is 4-1-0 in games in which it is leading after the first period and 5-1-0 in games in which it is leading after two periods… The Blue Jackets have converted 8-of-39 on the power play (20.5 pct.) over their last nine games, after going 1-of-20 the previous five games… The club ranks fifth (tied) in the NHL in shots against per game (28.4) and is ninth in shots on goal per game (31.2)... Since allowing 19 goals in three games from Nov. 3-10, the Jackets have allowed 16 in the past eight.

JACKETS FIND ROAD LEGS: After starting the season 0-7-0 on the road, the Blue Jackets have earned points in their last three road games with a 1-0-2 mark. Columbus has wrapped a pair of 2-1 shootout losses – at Boston on Nov. 17 and at New Jersey on Nov. 23 – around a 4-3 overtime win at Nashville on Nov. 19. In those three games, the club has allowed just five goals in regulation and overtime, converted 3-of-14 power play chances (21.4 pct.) and killed off six-of-eight opponent power plays (75.0 pct.) with both PP goals-against coming at Nashville. Last year, Columbus set franchise records for road wins (17) and points (42) in a season.


PROSPAL PLAYS 1,000TH NHL GAME; EYES 700TH POINT: LW Vinny Prospal played the 1,000th game of his NHL career against Buffalo on November 25. He became the 268th player in NHL history to play in 1,000 or more games. He has collected 233-466-699 in 1,001 career games with Philadelphia, Ottawa, Florida, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, NY Rangers and Columbus since making his debut with the Flyers on Mar. 5, 1997 vs. New Jersey. He was Philadelphia’s second pick, 71st overall, in the 1993 Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by the Blue Jackets on July 23, 2011.

UMBERGER MOVES INTO FOURTH ON CBJ ALL-TIME GOALS LIST: LW R.J. Umberger scored his third goal of the season against Buffalo on Friday. The goal was his 77th of his Blue Jackets career, moving him one ahead of Nikolai Zherdev for fourth on the franchise’s all-time list. He now trails Geoff Sanderson, who is third on the list with 88 goals with Columbus. Umberger, who has played in a franchise record 269-straight games, is three games shy of 500 for his career.

C Mark Letestu has scored three goals in nine games since being acquired by Columbus on Nov. 8. He had been held without a goal the previous 11 games… C Ryan Johansen has collected 5-5-10 his last 16, including his third multi-point game Nov. 25 vs. Buffalo… D Fedor Tyutin has assists in four of the past five games and has 2-8-10 the last 16 games after being held to 0-1-1 the first eight games of the season. In 265 games with the Blue Jackets, he has tallied 24-80-104 compared to 15-52-67 in 251 games with the New York Rangers… LW Rick Nash has goals in two of the past three games, including his first multi-goal game of the season Nov. 25 vs. Buffalo… D James Wisniewski has 1-9-10 in 15 games this season and has played 25-plus minutes in all but two games… RW Derek Dorsett enters the week with points in back-to-back games, as well as 2-2-4 the last 10 games. He had been held to 1-0-1 the first 13 games. He ranks third in the NHL in penalty minutes (64) and is 11th (tied) in hits (62).
