Two of the League's Hottest Teams Square Off at Nationwide Tonight!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

March 12

Another marquis match-up at Nationwide tonight between the hottest team in the NHL... the Pittsburgh Penguins, 9-1-1 in their last 11 and they have won the last seven in a row... against the Columbus Blue Jackets who are 10-4-1 since February 7 and they have won their last two, beating Detroit and Boston.

That said the Blue Jackets won't know until game time whether or not Steve Mason will make his 14th consecutive start. Mason left the arena prior to the morning skate suffering from what has been called a respiratory problem by coach Ken Hitchcock. Hitchcock added that if he is not feeling any worse tonight he will play and if not... he was planning on giving Wade Dubielewicz a start in one of these back-to-back games the Jackets have in the next two nights anyway! That said if Mason does not play tonight... he will likley start tomorrow's division game in Chicago.

Mike Peca returns to the lineup tonight making Chris Gratton a scratch along with Aaron Rome and Christian Backman on the blueline and Derek Dorsett up front.

The game tonight is in HD on Fox Sports Ohio and don't forget prior to tonight's opening face off the Blue Jackets will honor Coach Hitchcock on his 500th victory and part of the pre-game ceremonies will include another coach with 500 plus wins - Pat Burns who has flown into Columbus for tonight's festivities.

Enjoy another electric night at Nationwide!!
