Training Camp Set to Open Sept. 19

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets begin preparations for their eighth National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp on Friday, September 19. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine & Sports Center and undergo fitness testing at Nationwide Arena that day.

The team will take the ice for the first time on Saturday, September 20 at the Dispatch Ice Haus. All practices held at The Dispatch Ice Haus throughout camp will be open to the public. There are 46 players expected to participate in this year’s training camp. Also, a number of the 26 players participating in the club’s rookie camp in Traverse City, Michigan from September 13-17 will also be taking part in the club’s main camp and are listed on the Training Camp roster, which is available by clicking here.

The first three days of camp will consist of all players being divided into two groups – Group A and Group B – with each day featuring on-ice practices, off-ice workouts and video sessions. Group A will take part in on- and off-ice workouts from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with Group B scheduled to do the same from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Scheduled workout times from September 23 through October 4 (except September 24) will include the following: GAME DAYS: 10 a.m. – Playing Group, 11 a.m. – Non-Playing Group; NON-GAME DAYS: 11 a.m. – Group A; 1 p.m. – Group B. The team will conclude its preparations for the season with team building and on-ice practices in Oxford, Ohio from October 6-8. The complete Training Camp schedule can be found by clicking here.
