Training Camp Report: Day 4

by Rob Mixer / Columbus Blue Jackets

11:20 A.M.: After the full scrimmage resulted in a 2-1 win for the White squad, we've moved on to power play and penalty kill drills using the full ice. Letestu-Johansen-Prospal, Johnson-Wisniewski is one of the PP units being utilized for this drill.

11:15 A.M.:  The CBJ lens captured some pictures from today's scrimmage:

11:05 A.M.: A fine practice goal from Prospal gives the White team a 2-1 lead with less than four minutes left in the scrimmage. Nice round of applause from the fans in attendance following his classic Vinny goal celebration, too.

11:00 A.M.: Richards was none too pleased with the intensity to start the scrimmage, so he ground it to a halt and gathered everyone at center ice for a little heart-to-heart. After that, we've seen a different intensity level in the skate. The checks are being finished, guys have to keep their head up...feels like a hockey game again.

10:50 A.M.: We have some goal scoring in today's scrimmage, so step away from your panic buttons (kidding). Matt Calvert just buried a backhander from the slot to beat Mason, tying the game at 1-1 for the White Team. Some jumbled line combinations right now due to Atkinson's absence....looks like Foligno has filled in on the right side of Umberger and Brassard.

10:45 A.M.: The Blue Jackets are scrimmaging for the second straight day. No sign of Cam Atkinson on the ice this morning. We'll hope to get an update from Todd Richards after practice is over.

10:40 A.M.: Good stuff in the early going from Sergei Bobrovksy...absolutely robbed Artem Anisimov on a 2-on-0 drill and came back with another impressive stop on Derick Brassard. He's quick, folks...really like what he's brought to the goaltending competition here so far.

10:35 A.M.: The players are on the ice and practice is under way. John Moore and Adrian Aucoin are paired together once again today, reuniting the duo they formed to open camp on Sunday. Tim Erixon and David Savard are back together and the other two pairings -- Johnson-Wisniewski and Tyutin-Nikitin are the same.

10:15 A.M.: Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of Blue Jackets Training Camp presented by OhioHealth. The team is set to take the ice in just a few minutes at Nationwide Arena, and the practice is free and open to the public. If you're coming down to the arena, make sure to enter at the McConnell Street doors.
