The buzz word of the day was buzz as the Blue Jackets took the ice at the OhioHealth Ice Haus on Day Two of Training Camp.

New Blue Jackets center Jeff Carter was impressed with what would have been a sold out Ice Haus crowd.

"It was exciting to get out there with the guys, see the fans out there and it was a pretty good crowd," Carter said. "For us players, seeing all the fans come out and support us the first day like that, it's exciting."

Carter and Captain Rick Nash both realize that it is up to the team now to sustain that excitement with their play on the ice. Nash said he could hardly see an empty seat in the stands during the first session.

"It's good to be back and be in season," Nash said. "It's up to us now to put a good product on the ice."

Today was a lot of "battle drills" according to head coach Scott Arniel and just a day to get the guys into training camp mode. He tried to pair one veteran defenseman with one young defenseman and pair two veteran forwards with one young forward across the board.

Overall, he said he was pleased with the groups' (A and B) attention to detail on the first day on ice.

Tough, But Good Start
Radek Martinek lost a close friend in the KHL Lokomotiv team plane crash last week, but was in practice gear and ready to go for the first day on ice.

"How good did (Martinek) look out there," Arniel said. "He had a long day yesterday and a long week. I know yesterday was a tough day for him, but for a guy that traveled all night and jumped in there today, he looked pretty good."

Winnipeg Bound
The Blue Jackets play split squad games on Tuesday night – one in Columbus and one in Winnipeg. Head Coach Scott Arniel has not decided who will go, but he did drop a hint.

"Imagine there will be a lot of westerners on that trip," Arniel said.

Own It
Just a reminder that the Owners' Tournament Championship game will be streamed LIVE online at tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the OhioHealth Ice Haus. The semi-finals will be played at 11 and 11:45 a.m.
