Three down, three to go.
The Blue Jackets are halfway through a season long six-game home stand, and to this point, they’ve accumulated a record of 1-2-0 against three tough opponents in St. Louis, Detroit, and the defending Cup champion Los Angeles Kings.
What lies ahead? The Calgary Flames are in town and they’re next on the schedule tomorrow night at Nationwide Arena. The big storyline with the Flames is the recent injury to goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff, who will not play tomorrow against the Blue Jackets. Leland Irving is expected to start and former Springfield property Danny Taylor was signed to back him up, and it’s unfortunate timing with the Flames coming off a big win in Detroit.
The Blue Jackets have two days off on Friday and Saturday before embarking on back-to-back home games against the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks on Sunday and Monday. The Oilers are one of the NHL’s top young clubs and boasts a ton of high-end talent, and the Sharks have flown out of the gate and are atop the NHL standings through 10 games.
