Think these next two games are huge?

by Bill Davidge / Columbus Blue Jackets

December 20

Hitch has made the genuine effort to try and jump start the offense. It will be an interesting move in the line up to possibly see Chimmer on the right side with Nash and Federov. Vyborny could anchor the wing with Novotny and Glencross, pending how he feels in the morning skate. How about the possibility of uniting a new energy line of Glencross, Fritsche and Boll? The final combination of Jody, Beech and Brule would round out the four lines… but these are only possibilities and certainly subject to change. Hitch always says "I didn't mix up the lines, I just put them together!!!" He certainly knows that finding the chemistry to score goals, if it was only that easy!

Hats off to the CBJ Foundation headed by Mr. John H. McConnell for awarding scholarship money to the 10 Varsity High School hockey programs and the 6 Club teams in the city of Columbus. He has awarded over $450,000 during our storied history of the CBJ's. The sport continues to grow with the help of the organization and the use of all of the Chiller Arenas and staff. Ken Hitchcock took time to come up and give some inspirational comments to all the coaches and players.

The annual Holiday Xmas Party at NWA was on the 19th. Skating, a little open hockey, a sit down dinner, hot chocolate and goodies were had by all that are part of the entire organization. The players and families; the coaches and their families; and the cast of everyone in the organization, really enjoyed the festive evening. It was great to see the little kids with their wrapped gifts light up in front of everyone… that is what this time of year is all about… kids and the habit of giving, not receiving.

What about the solid 19:29 and one assist effort by Kris Russell against Calgary?

Is Jarome Iginla not an impressive competitor once the puck drops?   Believe it or not, he is a better person than a hockey player… oh yes, it is a true and an honest observation by all of us in the game today.

The 12 games of Xmas continue this weekend, with the CBJ Festivus Night on Friday!! Come join us!!
