COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced today that the team's "March On" 2009 Playoffs will be presented by The Columbus Dispatch and Time Warner Cable. The two Championship Partners have been affiliated with the hockey club since the 2000-01 inaugural season.
Beyond inclusion in all in-market promotion of the Blue Jackets playoffs, both partners will host respective in-game, on-ice intermission contests. The Columbus Dispatch $100,000 Shootout will occur during each home game of the series and Time Warner Cable's contest is slated for the game on Thursday, Apr. 23.
The Columbus Dispatch $100,000 Shootout awards one lucky fan a pair of game tickets and the chance to participate in the intermission contest. Each contestant will attempt to shoot ten pucks into an open net, winning up to $3,000 on nine shots. If a participant scores on all ten shots within the designated time limit, that winner receives $100,000 courtesy of the Columbus Dispatch. Fans may register online now by visiting the Blue Jackets Xtra section of Dispatch.com.
The winner of Time Warner Cable's contest will receive a High Definition television and six months of digital cable with HD Gold Service. Time Warner Cable is also recognizing the team's first postseason appearance by offering a commemorative Stanley Cup Playoffs puck to customers that add digital phone service to their existing service. In addition, those customers will be automatically entered to win one of five pairs of tickets to a Blue Jackets home playoff game. Customers may call (866) 785-5938 and ask for the Puck Promo special offer.
Game 1 of the Blue Jackets Stanley Cup Playoffs first round best-of-seven series against the defending champion Detroit Red Wings is set for Thursday, Apr. 16. Face-off at Joe Louis Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET. All Blue Jackets Stanley Cup Playoffs games will be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
