On the final day of the Columbus Blue Jackets' 2010 Development Camp, the squad led by Assistant Coach Brad Berry beat the squad led by Development Coach Tyler Wright, 3-2, in a shootout to capture the McConnell Cup. Team Berry erased 1-0 and 2-1 deficits in the championship game.
After Jake Hansen gave Team Wright a 1-0 lead, Matt Calvert scored to even the game at 1-1. A goal by Ryan Johansen staked Team Wright to a 2-1 lead before Chris Francis beat goaltender Allen York to force the "sudden death" shootout. In the extra session, Calvert beat York on the first attempt and Team Berry goaltender Gustaf Wesslau stopped Johansen to bring the camp to a close.
Team Berry advanced to the final with a 2-0 win over the team led by Strength & Conditioning Coach Kevin Collins thanks to goals by Francis and Michael Kantor. Team Wright advanced with a 1-0 victory of the squad led by Goaltending Coach Dave Rook as Sean Collins scored the game's only goal.
Team Rook was the top seed after posting a 4-0 record in preliminary action. Team Berry was the second seed with a 2-2 mark and a win over Team Collins, which was seeded third with a 2-2 record. Team Wright needed a win over the team led by Assistant Coach Dan Hinote to earn a spot in the semifinal as both finished preliminary action with a 1-3 mark.
