Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky named NHL's second star of the week

Vegas Golden Knights center Jonathan Marchessault was named First Star and Washington Capitals winger Alexander Ovechkin was the Third Star selection

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been named the National Hockey League's Second Star of the Week for the period ending November 26, the League and club announced today. Vegas Golden Knights center Jonathan Marchessault was named First Star and Washington Capitals winger Alexander Ovechkin was the Third Star selection.

Bobrovsky, 29, started all three of the Blue Jackets' games last week, going 3-0-0 with a 1.32 goals-against average, .950 save percentage (76-of-80) and a shutout. He made 30 saves in a 3-2 win at Buffalo on Nov. 20, turned aside all 22 shots he faced in a 1-0 overtime win vs. Calgary on Nov. 22 and stopped 24-of-26 shots in a 5-2 win over Ottawa on Nov. 24.

The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has won six-straight starts since Nov. 11, compiling a 0.98 GAA, .967 SV% (172-of-178) and two shutouts over that span. He has posted a 14-4-1 record with a 1.91 GAA, .936 SV% and three shutouts in 19 games this season and leads the NHL in GAA, SV% and SO (tied) and ranks second in wins.

Bobrovsky captured his second career Vezina Trophy in 2016-17 after going 41-17-5 with a 2.06 GAA, .931 SV% and seven shutouts, leading the league in GAA and SV% and finishing third in wins and SO (tied). He is 195-111-31 with a 2.42 goals-against average and .921 save percentage and 22 shutouts in 349 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers. Acquired from the Flyers in a trade on June 22, 2012, he is Columbus' all-time leader in wins with a 153-88-21 record, 2.32 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and 22 shutouts in 266 games.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight as they visit the Montreal Canadiens.
