The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Ryan Murray and left wing Alexandre Texier on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Murray, 26, suffered a broken hand on Saturday at Philadelphia and is expected to miss three to four weeks. He has posted a goal and three assists for four points with two penalty minutes in 10 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The Regina, Saskatchewan native has notched 14-91-105, 102 penalty minutes and a +20 plus/minus rating in 330 career NHL games. Selected second overall at the 2012 NHL Draft, Murray set career highs in assists and points with 1-28-29 in 56 outings in 2018-19.
Texier, 20, is expected to miss two to four weeks with a knee injury suffered on Saturday at Philadelphia. He has registered 2-1-3 with four penalty minutes and an even plus/minus rating in 11 games with Columbus this season. A native of St. Martin D'heres, France, Texier has tallied 3-1-4, four penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating in 13 career games with the team since making his NHL debut at the end of the 2018-19 campaign. He collected 27-36-63 in 108 career Liiga games with KalPa from 2017-19, including 14-27-41 in 55 appearances in 2018-19. He was the club's second round pick, 45th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Wednesday when they host the Edmonton Oilers. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7:30 p.m. ET.
