A pair of Blue Jackets will make their debuts here in Minnesota tonight against the Wild. Mathieu Garon makes his first start of the season while Nate Guenin, who I thought had a solid preseason with the CBJ before heading to Springfield, is on emergency recall and will make his Blue Jackets debut this evening. Guenin's recall is the result of an upper body injury to Anton Stralman and that coupled with the fact that Mike Commodore is unable to play due to the revelation that he is suffering from a thumb injury from a fight in an earlier game. Last night the veteran Jackets blueliner was listed as a healthy scratch.
Garon's numbers are solid against the Wild. In 10 starts he is 6-3-1 vs. Minny with a 2.66 goals against average and .907 save percentage.
In meeting with the media following today's morning skate head coach Scott Arneil said he's pleased that the Jackets get right back in action after last night's disappointing effort against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Black Hawks adding "We must make sure we are better tonight."
The team watched video of last night's loss going over the things that they did wrong with the intent of correcting those errors against the Wild who won their first game of the season here Thursday with four power play goals against the Edmonton Oilers.
