Blue Jackets netminder Mathieu Garon makes a second straight start for the first time this season, in Atlanta tonight against the Thrashers.
Garon blanked the Montreal Canadiens 3-0 at Nationwide Tuesday night by stopping all 29 shots he faced to record his 17th career shutout. The "true professional," as he has been called by coach Scott Arniel this season, is a perfect 4-0-0 in his career against Atlanta with a 1.00 goals against average and a .965 save percentage. His season record is a similar 3-0-0 with a 1.15 goals against average and .957 save percentage. In talking about Garon this morning at Philips Arena Arneil said, "Mathieu knows his role, has a great work ethic, whether he plays or not, and has been outstanding since the start of camp."
Ondrej Pavelec, a life-long friend of the Jackets Jake Voracek, gets the nod for the Thrashers and it is his first home game since losing consciousness and collapsing in the season opener back on the 8th of October.
It's important with Atlanta playing in Florida last night (winning 4-3 in come from behind fashion) and traveling home that the Blue Jackets jump on the Thrashers early says Arniel adding "we need to put pressure on their Defensemen."
Blue Jackets LIVE gets things going with Ray Crawford at 6:30 p.m. and yes tonight's game is in "HD" with a 7:10 p.m. puck drop in FOX Sports Ohio.
