Out here in Denver tonight the Blue Jackets will attempt to keep their slim playoff hopes alive as they meet the Avalanche for the final time this season.
The coaching staff and Head Coach Scott Arniel in particular want the Jackets to end the season on a strong note and if their playoff hopes ultimately fail, Arniel says he wants his hockey club to be professional right down to the final game of the season against Buffalo on April 9 at Nationwide.
The Jackets will look to rebound tonight from Sunday's listless and disappointing 3-0 shutout loss to New Jersey. Out here in Colorado they meet an Avalanche team that has won just two of their last 22 games.(2-18-2). During their miserable stretch they have twice lost 10 in a row. The latest streak ended on the weekend with 3-2 win over the Oilers in Edmonton.
They haven't won at the Pepsi Center since the swoon started back on Jan. 24. Since that time they are 0-7-1 at home. It's worth noting that on Jan. 24 the Avalanche were 25-18-6 and that's when things went south for a team who last season surprised the entire National Hockey League with their up-tempo style and success.
The CBJ will be looking to even the season series as Colorado leads 2-1, including a convincing 5-1 win here earlier in the season.
The Game is in HD beginning with Blue Jackets Live at 8:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio.
