The Blue Jackets play a rare early afternoon game here in St. Paul at 2 p.m. Columbus time.
In facing the Wild the Blue Jackets see a mirror image of themselves. These are two teams that a short time ago were both very much in the playoff hunt. Now, both the Wild and the Blue Jackets are fighting to stay alive!
The Wild are coming off a four-game road trip in which they were shut out in the first two games and managed to score just four times in the final two games.
Things are not much different for the Blue Jackets. They too are suffering from a power outage. The CBJ have won just one game in their last 10 (1-5-4). They have scored just seven times in their last four games. More troubling is the fact that five of their top six forwards collectively have scored just seven goals in their last 62 games combined!
Captain Rick Nash hasn't lit the lamp in 11 games matching the longest goal-less drought of his career. RJ Umberger has scored just twice in his last 18 games and Antoine Vermette has found the back of the net just once in his last 11. It's difficult to win when your top players are not producing.
The Blue Jackets hope it all changes this afternoon here in St. Paul.
The telecast is in HD on Fox Sports Ohio beginning at 1:30 p.m. Columbus time with Blue Jackets Live.
