It's the Blue Jackets Steve Mason opposing the Kings Jonathan Bernier in the final meeting between the two teams this season.
The Jackets begin play eight points behind Los Angeles for the eighth and final playoff spot, which brings even more significance to tonight's match up as far as CBJ coach Scott Arniel is concerned.
Despite those that think the Jackets have too much of a climb ahead of them to get back into the playoff hunt Arniel says, "We still have 16 games to go, a bunch of games at home, four games in hand on Calgary and two or three on other teams. We can't dwell on the past, (the six game winless streak) were looking to get the first win tonight and we have to be at our best. We have GOT to find a way to win."
In discussing the Kings, Arniel talked about them being a team with a solid group of veterans that has the speed, size and skill. The Blue Jackets need to use THEIR speed against L.A.
Arniel summed up his thoughts on tonight's game by saying, "We can't give up quality opportunities to the opposition."
Prior to tonight's game the Blue Jackets will honor another member of the CBJ Alumni, goaltender Marc Denis who will drop the ceremonial face-off puck prior to the contest and it's Rick Nash bobble-head night. The game starts at 7 p.m. and if you can't make it to Nationwide Arena our FOX Sports Ohio telecast begins with Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m. with Ray Crawford all in HD.
