The Blue Jackets begin their first extended road trip of 2011 here in Nashville tonight and it is an important one!
The four game trip starts against the rival Predators, who have beaten the Jackets 14 straight times here (0-9-5) with the last four games at Bridgestone Arena decided in overtime or a shootout.
Of course, Blue Jackets head coach Scott Arniel has no history with the club's failures and he frankly doesn't care to dwell on the past. The first year coach knows what the CBJ need to do to win the late afternoon tilt (5 p.m. CT) and says "we have to limit turnovers, need a good start, to be disciplined and get after their "D" with a strong forecheck."
Scoring first would help tonight, the Jackets are now 14-2-0 when scoring the games first goal and as Arniel said this morning the Blue Jackets have been playing well when they get the lead.
While Nashville took the morning off, the Blue Jackets were on the ice for a quick skate and I thought the team showed some jump this morning. Let's hope that we see more of that shortly after puck drop. As is the norm with Arniel, no lineup for tonight was divulged but with three straight wins and Friday's overtime victory, why make changes.
It's a 6 p.m. start Eastern Time with Ray Crawford and Blue Jackets Live getting things started at 5:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio.
