After another solid effort by the Blue Jackets last night in Pittsburgh, the Jackets get right back on the ice hosting the streaking San Jose Sharks at Nationwide tonight. In fact tonight's match up sees two of the NHL's hottest teams this side of Vancouver (won six in a row) at the present time going head-to-head.
The Sharks are 8-2-0 in their last 10, while the Blue Jackets with a 4-1 over the Penguins gave them their fourth straight on the road and third in a row overall. The Jackets are also 6-2-2 in their last 10 games.
I am not expecting to see any lineup changes tonight. Steve Mason expected to make his eighth consecutive, start while John Moore is expected to be a healthy scratch. While on the subject of the CBJ's blueliners, I thought last night's performance by Anton Stralman may have been his best as a Blue Jacket. As I mentioned early in the telecast on FOX Sports Ohio last night, Stralman was moving the puck quickly and very effectively out of his own zone as well as being responsible defensively. He was very poised and confident with the puck, which hasn't always been the case recently. Stralman finished the game a plus-4, and so did Jan Hejda.
One more note according to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet in Canada - Matt Cooke has been suspended for four games for last night's hit on Fedor Tyutin. There is no place in the game for Cooke's lack of respect for an opposing player and the NHL.
Tonight's game is set for 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio in HD. Excellent seats remain for tonight's game at Nationwide between two of the league's hottest teams.
