Rimer's Game Day Ramblings - Dec. 1

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

December 1

Steve Mason starts in goal for the Blue Jackets tonight who's lineup will be bolstered by the return of forward Ethan Moreau. Moreau has missed the last 17 games with a broken hand. I thought he was one of the key players in the team's lineup at the time of the injury, when he blocked a point shot with his right hand.

Jackets coach Scott Arniel is certainly pleased to have the veteran forward back against the Nashville Predators tonight. Arniel says, "Ethan has size, is a great skater, plays physical and adds leadership on the ice, in the dressing room and on the bench." He added, "that just having him in the lineup will be good because he is such a positive guy."

As I mentioned, Mason gets the start in goal. Mason, back on the 22nd of November, shutout the Predators who last night broke a four-game losing streak with a shutout of their own, 3-0 over Phoenix at home. The key tonight is for the Jackets to get an early jump on the Predators, who arrived in Columbus in the early hours this morning and in fact did not even venture outside today for the normal pre-game skate.

The Preds will have Ryan Suter in their lineup. Suter did not play in the teams first match-up due to an injury and the birth of his first child. Suter will likely be matched up against the Jackets top line, not to mention his ability to join the rush and be part of their offensive machine from the blue line.

Game time is 7 p.m. tonight and their are excellent seats available for the game. If you are unable to join us at Nationwide the game will be seen in HD on FOX Sports Ohio, starting with Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m.
