The Blue Jackets play their final road game of the season here in Nashville tonight. With all the adversity the Jackets have experienced here in Music City they can truly spoil the Predators party or at least delay it with a victory over their division rivals.
The Jackets win-less streak has been well documented so we are not going to get into it. However, with a regulation win the Blue Jackets can prevent the Predators from clinching a playoff spot and stall their efforts of finishing in the top four in the Western Conference, which would give them home ice for the first time ever in the playoffs.
What with all the bizarre outcomes for the Jackets here in Nashville since their last win on April 3, 2006, I am certain even the hockey gods would smile if the CBJ could end the streak. A victory would be the Blue Jackets 18th on the road this season and extend their franchise record for road wins - one of the few bright spots in the disappointing season.
Steve Mason is expected to get the start in goal tonight. Mason has missed the last three games with a lower body injury.
Pekka Rinne goes in goal for the Predators. Since the 1st of January, Rinne has seen action in 40 of the team's 44 games, posting 24 wins and allowing two goals or less in 26 of the 40 games.
Tonight's game on Fox Sports Ohio begins at 8 p.m. Columbus time with Blue Jackets Live hitting the air at 7:30 p.m.
