Out here in Dallas the Stars are taking about climbing back into the playoff picture while the Blue Jackets are looking to bounce back from Sunday's listless performance, a 6-1 loss to the Blues at Nationwide.
The Stars held on for a 4-3 win Sunday night at Anaheim to snap a six-game losing streak. They had previously dropped 8-of-9 to fall from the top 8 in the West.
Tonight the Jackets are relegated to a spoilers roll and will attempt to derail the Stars playoff hopes. Dallas begins the night in 10th place, three points back of the eighth place Blackhawks. Both teams have four games remaining in the final week of the regular season and Chicago is in Montreal tonight to face the Canadiens.
As for the Blue Jackets, RJ Umberger will establish a new franchise record for consecutive games played. Tonight will be Umberger's 244th consecutive game with the CBJ breaking Jason Chimera's Iron Man streak of 243 games, which Umberger tied Sunday against the Blues.
Steve Mason and Rick Nash did not make the trip to Dallas, but both Grant Clitsome and Chris Clark did and one or both could dress. My bet is it will be Clitsome, what with Jan Hejda sitting out the second game of his two game suspension for an errant elbow in last Friday's game against Chicago.
The game is in HD and begins with Blue Jackets Live at 8 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio.
