Rimer Rambles about Hitchcock

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

November 12

Interesting briefing from Coach Hitchcock today... and understated, but you know exactly what he is saying. In my own words... look for Hitch to ride the hot goaltending of Pascal Leclaire for the next little while. The Direct quote is... "Pascal will see quite a bit of action coming up, with days in between games." Again this is me talking... IN my view he has earned it!!!! No big pronouncement from the coach... just a matter of fact and you know what... it was the right way to present it. Norrena hasn't been bad it's just that Pascal has been the story of the Jackets start!

As we all know too well Hitch on another topic simply stated in tonight's back end of the home and home with Nashville the Blue Jackets need to stay out of the penalty box. After leading the league in PK since the start of the season with an almost 95 penalty killing percentage... the Blue Jackets have given up a pair of power play goals in each of the last two games. The Predators have a good power play and the Jackets must be disciplined!

On the injury front... no Michael Peca tonight still bothered by a sore groin but their is some good news on Fredrik Modin. I talked to the personable winger after practice this morning and he says he has felt much better the last two days and will consult with the team doctors tonight and get everyone on the same page as to his schedule for a return at least to practice.
