The Columbus Blue Jackets join the Central Ohio community in mourning the passing of CD101's Andy Davis last weekend. Andyman was not only a fan, but he was part of the Blue Jackets family. Ten years ago when the Blue Jackets took the ice during their inaugural season, he was there broadcasting his show from Nationwide Arena prior to every home game.
Andyman was the face of CD101 and the alternative music scene in Central Ohio for over 20 years and he was a passionate fan and supporter of hockey in Central Ohio for nearly as long dating back to his days as the public address announcer for the ECHL's Columbus Chill. He also chose to make a difference in the lives of children in our community through his annual Andyman-a-thon that benefited CD101 for the Kids and celebrated its 17th year in 2009.
Andyman was our friend and he will be missed. The Blue Jackets extend their deepest sympathies to Andy's wife, Molly; their kids, Johnny, Oliver and Sammy; our friends at CD101; and all of those who knew him.
Rest in peace, Andyman.
A Memorial Fund has been set up to benefit Andyman's Family. Donations to the Andy Davis Memorial Fund can be made at any Huntington National Bank branch or may be dropped of at the CD101 studios, located in the Brewery District at 503 S. Front St., Suite 101, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
