The Blue Jackets couldn't get back in the win column Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena, allowing two goals in the last 3:04 to lose 3-2 to visiting Vancouver. Columbus fell to 16-12-2 on the season while Vancouver improved to 14-16-3.
Game in a Paragraph
Oliver Bjorkstrand's third-period goal gave Columbus a 2-1 lead, but late tallies by Elias Pettersson and Jake Virtanen gave the Canucks the win. Seth Jones scored 47 seconds into the game for the other CBJ goal on a night the team played an improved all-around game but still left with nothing to show for it in the win column.

Quote of the Night
Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella: "We played better away from the puck. Some of the things we talked about, we did. We had some really good chances to go up by two and didn't finish a couple of times. That's the way it's going for us right now. (We gave up) three really funky goals, so yeah. Go back to work tomorrow."

Quick Recap
After Saturday's 4-0 loss to the Capitals, the first shutout Columbus suffered all season, the Blue Jackets wasted little time getting on the board with a goal just 47 seconds into the game. The long reach of Seth Jones kept the puck in at the blue line, and he loaded up from the center point and fired a shot that tipped off a Canucks player in front and got behind goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

It felt like it could have been more in the opening period, as turnovers by the Canucks led to great chances for Brandon Dubinsky and Nick Foligno, but Markstrom turned aside the first and the puck wouldn't settle down for the CBJ captain on the latter try.
The Jackets also had their fair share of chances in the second, but Markstrom made 17 stops in the Vancouver cage, including turning aside Boone Jenner on a breakaway five minutes into the period.
"I thought we were the better team, and we don't score on certain chances to go up 2-0," Tortorella said.
Meanwhile, Joonas Korpisalo matched Markstrom on the other side, making his biggest save through the opening two periods late in the second. With the Jackets on the power play, Antoine Roussel found himself on a shorthanded breakaway but was denied by Korpisalo's right pad.

Columbus entered the third period with a 1-0 lead for the first time all season, but it wouldn't end that way. Vancouver ruined the Jackets' push for their first shutout of the season 8:11 into the third on a goal by Josh Leivo, who deflected a shot by Christopher Tanev by Korpisalo, who had no chance on the bouncing puck.
But it was 1-1 for just 1:45, as Columbus answered with Bjorkstrand's tally. The winger took a pass from Scott Harrington, curled into the high slot and ripped a hard shot glove side past Markstrom.
"The puck came out to Harry there, and he just laid it for me and I had a lot of ice to skate on and figure out what I wanted to do," Bjorkstrand said. "It's nice it went in, but it sucks we couldn't keep the lead there."
The Jackets couldn't finish it off, though, as rookie standout Elias Pettersson knotted things for the Canucks with 3:04 to play. It was another deflected goal, as Alexander Edler's shot from the blue line went first off Leivo and then Petterson.
Then with just 1:46 to go, Jake Virtanen fired from near the goal line along the right wing boards and snuck the shot between Korpisalo and the post for the Canucks' winner.
"It just went through me," Korpisalo said. "That's it."
Columbus pushed for the tying goal with the empty net but could not convert.
