Quebec Pee Wee Jackets Update II: Feb. 9, 2010

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus, Ohio (Feb. 9, 2010) - Last night at the Dispatch Ice Haus, the Columbus Blue Jacket Quebec Pee-Wee Team went through their last practice prior to leaving for the Quebec tournament. The team's motto, "Pound the Rock," was heard in the locker room and hallways on the way to the ice.

The team was visited by Blue Jackets winger Jake Voracek and Head Coach Claude Noel, who watched practice and talked with the boys about the tournament. Coach Noel, who grew up just outside Quebec City, told the boys of how he always wanted to play in the tournament and that they should most of all have fun, enjoy the city, and play with true emotion. Voracek joked with a few of the "long hairs" on the team that they should dye their hair blond so that they could be cool like him.

Everyone is busy packing for the 10-day trip and the boys are looking forward to billeting with local Quebec families during the tournament. In addition to hockey equipment and clothes for the boys, they are working on "billet bins" filled with gifts (donated by Ohio companies) for the host families.

Thanks to all the companies and people who have donated to support the team.
