Columbus, Ohio (Feb. 5, 2010) - For the past 50 years the best Pee-Wee (12-year-old) hockey teams in the world have gathered in Quebec City for the "World Championship of Pee-Wee Hockey," the Quebec International Pee-Wee tournament.
Nearly a 1,000 post and current NHL greats have played in this tournament and this year the Columbus Blue Jacket Quebec Pee-Wee Team will be making the 16-hour bus ride to Quebec to join 2,300 other players from 16 countries for an 11-day tournament played before 300,000 fans. The team was recognized prior to last night's Blue Jackets vs. Dallas game and now are preparing for departure next Wednesday.
The Jackets enter the tournament with a record of 28-15-7, the team plays Slovenia in an exhibition game Friday Feb. 12 and open the tournament the next morning against the Saint John Sea Dogs out of New Brunswick, CA.
