Quebec Pee Wee Blue Jackets Update No. 5

Thursday February 21, 2008 TOURNAMENT GAME vs. Burnaby British Columbia 8 p.m.

Today's game was against a tough and relentless Burnaby team. The Quebec Blue Jackets billet families were all present and cheering which made for a home crowd advantage for the Quebec Blue Jackets.

First period opens with some rushes by Burnaby and the Quebec Blue Jackets respond by holding them off for most of the period however Burnaby's pressure is too much to handle and Burnaby scores a goal. End of Period One – Burnaby 1, Quebec Blue Jackets 0

Second period shows a strong Quebec Blue Jackets team fending off rushes and creating rushes of their own. Goalie Henry Dill shows his agility and stops all shots by Burnaby. End of second Period – Burnaby 1, Quebec Blue Jackets 0.

Ice cut and 15 minutes of play. The Quebec Blue Jackets come out of the locker room playing a strong clean game while Burnaby took several penalties. The Quebec Blue Jackets power play garners shots but with a tough Burnaby goalie the shots are either gloved and held or the rebound given was just out of Quebec Blue Jackets reach. The Quebec Blue Jackets put up a fight for the puck, however Burnaby manages to score a goal. In the final minute, the Quebec Blue Jackets call a timeout and then pull their goalie and place the sixth skater on the ice. Quebec Blue Jackets efforts are good, but not good enough as the horn sounds and the Quebec Blue Jackets tournament play comes to an end.

Final Score: Burnaby 2, Quebec BlueJackets 0.

 

This Quebec Pee Wee International Tournament calls for players, coaches and even parents to be at the top of their game at all times. The Quebec Blue Jackets team came very close to being at the top but just fell a little short in this game. It is no doubt the players will benefit from this tournament experience. The Quebec Blue Jackets team, realizing the honor of being one of the 115 teams participating in the tournament, continues to represent the city of Columbus, Ohio with pride.

With tournament play complete, the Quebec Blue Jackets next game is Friday, February 22, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. against the St. Louis Blues.
