Quebec Pee Wee Blue Jackets Final Update

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

Final Exhibition Game Quebec Blue Jackets vs. St. Louis Blues at Rejean Lemelin Arena

The game started out with speed as both teams were determined to win this game. The St. Louis Blues scored first with an early period goal coming at just past 2 minutes into the period. The Quebec Blue Jackets regrouped and played the balance of the period with discipline. End of 1st Period: St. Louis 1, Quebec Blue Jackets 0.

Second period opens with Coach Cassels and Coach Cristofoli "mixing up" the players. Defenseman DJ O'Brien saw a shift as a forward and scored a goal with assists going to John Urbanic and Connor McDonald. This period saw some special team action as both Quebec Blue Jackets and the St. Louis Blues teams took penalties. Both teams continued to try to out work the other. Goalie Ryan Wickiser was strong in net and held the Blues scoreless in this middle frame. End of 2nd Period: St. Louis 1, Quebec Blue Jackets 1.

Third period opens with St. Louis again scoring early in the period and before the three minute mark. The Quebec Blue Jackets had to outwork St. Louis for most of the third period and Connor McDonald scored with assists going to Julian Ebner and Mark Damante. End of 3rd period: St. Louis 2, Quebec BlueJackets 2.

But, there is still time before the next game is played, so it's into a shoot-out we go! John Urbanic and Julian Ebner scored, but that was not enough, the Blues scored three goals.

Final: St. Louis 3, Quebec Blue Jackets 2 (SO)

As the Quebec BlueJackets exit the ice they know their Quebec experience now comes to an end. The players all have experienced the French culture in billeting with Quebec families for the duration of the tournament and now they will pack their gear, their pins, and their memories and head back home to Columbus.

Next up for the 95AAA Blue Jackets team is the Ohio State Tier I Tournament with first game against the Cleveland Barons at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 7 at Mentor Arena and a second game against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 8 also at Mentor Arena.
