In the quarter finals the Blue Jackets faced their toughest opponent yet in the team from Veneto, Italy. Historically this team has enjoyed only moderate success but the '07 team was experiencing a strong winning streak, defeating solid opponents by several goals. Veneto is a region of Italy just North of Venice which is known by Italians to produce fiercely competitive athletes and energetic fans.

True to their reputation, Veneto came to play and held the "Jackets" to a scoreless first period. Second period action saw Veneto score first which ignited an on ice celebration by the Italians, nearly costing them a delay of game penalty. The "Jackets" Jude Warner answered the Italians with a mid period goal, assisted by Nick Maley and James Eastep. The period ended tied at 1 to 1.

In early third period action, the "Jackets" defense held tough on Veneto with two critical breakaways that were disrupted by Ian Flinders, followed by Gabe Martin. The "Jackets" trio of Warner, Eastep and Maley proved to be a lethal combination for Veneto scoring and assisting both the second goal and third goals, securing a 3 to 2 victory in what was arguably the best game of the tourney by the "Jackets". The third goal was scored by Jude Warner with only 32 seconds remaining.
