by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets moved to 2-1-0 at the 2011 NHL Annual Prospects Tournament with a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Columbus' Mike Thomas scored the first goal of the game, giving the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead just :54 seconds inro the first period. Adam Payerl and Dalton Smith picked up assists on the goal.

"We had another really good effort tonight," Director of Amateur Scouting Tyler Wright said. "We got excellent goaltending from (Paul) Dainton; and (Michael) Chaput and Boone Jenner had their best games of the tournament."

Goaltender Paul Dainton stopped 26 of 27 shots on goal, allowing only a second period goal to tie the game 1-1 early in the middle frame. However, Chaput would eventually answer with the eventual game winner, unassisted with 2:17 left in the second.

The Blue Jackets received outstanding defensive work in front of Dainton as well. The Jackets killed all five Wild power plays and Dalton Prout and Theo Ruth were both +2.

"We got great efforts from Prout and (Cody) Goloubef on the back end," Wright said. "Everyone played hard and it was nice to watch."
