Nikita Filatov, LW
18 years old, 6-0, 172 pounds (Moscow, Russia)
Columbus' 1st pick, sixth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft
2008 has been great to Nikita thus far and he hopes to continue that trend after being called up to the Blue Jackets from Syracuse on October 15. After being selected sixth overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Filatov participated in the 2008 World Jr. Championships, tallying four goals and five assists in seven games. In two games this season with the Syracuse Crunch, Filatov notched two goals on six shots.
Steven Delisle, D
18 years old, 6-6, 209 pounds (Levis, Quebec)
Columbus' 3rd pick, 107th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft
In ten games thus far with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Delisle has registered one goal and two assists while also logging 16 penalty minutes. Described as a "stay at home defensemen," Delisle will continue to go head-to-head with the elite forwards of the QMJHL.
Teddy Ruth, D
19 years old, 6-1, 199 pounds (Naperville, IL)
Washington's 3rd pick, 46th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft - traded to Columbus by Washington for Sergei Fedorov, February 26, 2008.
After being named Notre Dame's Rookie of the Year during his freshman season, Ruth will look to build on that success during his sophomore campaign. Last year he appeared in 42 games as a freshman, scoring two goals with three assists for five points while Notre Dame finished as Runner-up in the 2008 Frozen Four to Boston College.
Matt Calvert, LW
18 years old, 5-9, 164 pounds (Brandon, Manitoba)
Columbus' 5th pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft
Calvert is currently tied for 2nd in points on the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. Through eight games this season, Calvert has already recorded three goals and seven assists for 10 points total. In the 2007 season, Calvert scored 24 goals and 40 assists, while playing in all 72 regular season games for the Brandon Wheat Kings. He also managed to post an impressive plus-26 rating during the season.
Will Weber, D
19 years old, 6-4, 205 pounds (Gaylord, Michigan)
Columbus' 3rd pick, 53rd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft
Weber is enrolled at Miami University and is seeing the ice for the Redhawks. Will played in 46 games for the Chicago Steel of the USHL last year, recording 10 goals and 18 assists. He was also named defenseman of the week twice during his tenure with the Steel.
