Prospects Report: November 11, 2009

Matt Calvert, LW

19 years old, 5-10, 182 (Brandon, Manitoba)
Selected in the fifth round, 127th overall, in 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Matt Calvert contributed a shorthanded goal and an assist for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League Saturday night, helping his club defeat Medicine Hat 5-1. In 17 games for Brandon so far, Calvert is tied for first on the Wheat Kings in goals with 10 and his 12 assists put him tied for third on the team with 22 points overall. Calvert has a +12 plus/minus rating this season.


John Moore, D

18 years old, 6-2, 195 (Winnetka, Illinois)
Selected in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft

Moore contributed an assist in the Kitchner Rangers 6-3 loss to the Windsor Spitfires Friday night. Moore has yet to score a goal since his first game of the season where the defender notched two to help the Rangers win in the final seconds against the Saginaw Spirit. Moore also has eight assists to go with his two gals for a total of 10 points in 17 games this season.


Brent Regner, D

20 years old, 6-0, 170 (Westlock, Alberta)
Selected in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Defenseman Brent Regner saw significant playing time with Mathieu Roy serving tim in the NHL early in the season. In 11 games for the Crunch this year Regner has one gaol to go with five assists and six points overall. Regner has served 14 penalty minutes this season.


Tomas Kubalik, C

19 years old, 6-2, 189 (Plzen, Czech Republic)
Selected in the fifth round, 135th overall, in 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Kubalik registered two assists Sunday for the Victoriaville Tigers en route to a 4-2 win over Baie-Comeau. Both of Kubalik's two assists came in the second period, both to teammate Joel Chouinard. Kubalik now has nine goals to go with 19 assists for a total of 28 points for Victoriaville. In 20 games he has a +7 plus/minus rating.
