Prospects Report: January 20, 2010

Matt Calvert, LW

19-years old, 5-10, 182 (Brandon, Manitoba)
Selected in the fifth round, 127th overall, in 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Matt Calvert scored goals in back-to-back nights last weekend to help the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL improve to 30-15-0. Calvert contributed one goal in the Wheat Kings 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings and two goals against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Through 44 games played on the season Calvert has tallied 31-30-61 and has a +23 plus/minus. Calvert currently leads the Wheat Kings in both goals and points.


John Moore, D

18-years old, 6-2, 195 (Winnetka, Illinois)
Selected in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft

Moore scored the sole goal for Kitchener as they fell to the Mississauga St. Michaels Majors 2-1 Friday night. For Moore, it was his seventh goal of the season to go along with 22 assists for 29 total points. In 40 games played for Kitchener this season, Moore has served 45 penalty minutes and has a +10 plus/minus rating.


Brent Regner, D

20-years old, 6-0, 170 (Westlock, Alberta)
Selected in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Brent Regner has not played for the Syracuse Crunch since Jan. 2, when he was scoreless in a 6-3 loss in Albany. Through 29 games this season with Syracuse, Regner has three goals and eight assists for 11 points total.


Tomas Kubalik, C

19-years old, 6-2, 189 (Plzen, Czech Republic)
Selected in the fifth round, 135th overall, in 2008 NHL Entry Draft

Kubalik is riding a three game point streak and has helped spur the Victoriaville tigers to eight straight victories. During the Tigers win streak Kubalik has played five games and registered 2-8-10 and has a +7 plus/minus rating. Through 38 games this season Kubalik has scored 21 goals to go with 35 assists for 56 points. He has severed 60 penalty minutes and has a +15 plus/minus rating.
