EDITOR'S NOTE: You've arrived at the CBJ Power Rankings, our weekly breakdown of the top-five players, statistics, trends and many other Blue Jackets-related categories. If you're looking for the traditional power rankings, you've come to the wrong place. We'll go in-depth and outside the box, and hopefully give you something to think about.
The Blue Jackets, as you know, are playoff-bound and will begin their opening round series on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. These two Metropolitan Division rivals played a five-game season series in 2013-14, with the Penguins taking all five tightly-contested games...but the beauty of playoff hockey is that starting today, it's a fresh start and all that matters is Game 1 at the CONSOL Energy Center.
In this week's Power Rankings, we're taking a look at five players to watch in this Stanley Cup playoffs series. Are you ready for postseason hockey, friends? Of course you are: #BecauseItsTheCup.
2013-14: 33 GOALS, 30 ASSISTS (5 GWG)
Few players had a better breakout season than the 21-year-old Johansen, who not only tallied 33 goals but developed a knack for lighting the lamp in clutch situations. He scored five game-winning goals in 2013-14 and two of them came in critical games down the stretch for Columbus, most notably an overtime winner against the Phoenix Coyotes on April 8. Safe to say the Penguins will be on alert when No. 19 comes over the boards.
