Post Game Quotes

Chicago Blackhawks at Columbus Blue Jackets

Blue Jackets Head Coach Ken Hitchcock

Commenting on the game …
"We competed really hard tonight and that's the way we have to play to win. What was really nice for me was we came back from a 1-0 deficit, we got the lead and kept it."

Commenting on Brule's line and Malhotra's line …
"I think we got a real good game from Brule's line. The thing for him with Brule's line was they played error free (tonight). Plus, they created their own scoring chances."

"Malhotra's line is interesting, they're a line that can score and if we continue to work with them and they get better in their own end, then they can be a really effective line. They can all score and they all get chances, if they improve the play in our zone, then they can be a dependable line."

Commenting on state of the team…
"You just have to keep playing. We have a lot of guys on board and Chicago is a real good team."

"This is going to be a roller coaster – when you are trying to change the mindset of the same people coming back – 90-percent of the team is back. The biggest part of the mindset is to erase doubt. When you don't win, doubt creeps in and you second guess yourself. After we scored the third goal tonight, we just played."

Columbus Blue Jackets Jason Chimera

Commenting on the team rebounding from a tough stretch…
"We've got great character in here. The guys have a lot of confidence. We're not a bad team. We didn't get ourselves in that position because it was a fluke. We're a good team. We did the things we needed to do tonight to win. We did the little things right and it was nice to see. Everyone contributed."

Columbus Blue Jackets Sergei Fedorov

Commenting on tonight's game…
"We kept pressing. We played a North attitude game, no turnovers in the neutral zone. I'm glad we found a way to come back right away."

Commenting on the Blue Jackets' style of play…
"We tried to not over handle the pucks in the neutral zone. That's what gave us a chance to play offensive hockey, North hockey, we call it. I think we played pretty disciplined in the neutral zone defensively. That gave us a chance to get a couple of extra loose pucks and attack their net."

Commenting on playing against Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane's line all game…
"We played against their top line. That was our match-up. We had a good game down low. We were able to retrieve pucks after they put the pucks in our zone. We just played very tight defensively and that gave us a chance to move the puck out of our zone and play a little offense against that line."

Visiting Head Coach Quotes

Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Denis Savard

Commenting on coming off a big win in their last game against Detroit…
"Our emotion from the last game, we couldn't match it. They showed a lot more determination than we did. It's just not how we wanted to start a road trip."

Commenting on the style of play tonight…
"I just didn't like the way we played, we didn't protect our blue lines, whether it's our blue line or their blue line."

Commenting on the physical play tonight…
"We're going to have some competition down in the corner and we need to want to do it. If you don't it doesn't look very good."

Commenting on where the team goes from here…
"We have to remember, this is a divisional game and a start of a road trip. You want to get off to a good start and we didn't. But the good thing about hockey is we go at it again tomorrow and hopefully we bring our emotion back up and play the type of game that we can because we’ve showed in the past that we can."
