Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on goaltender Steve Mason's play…

"I thought he played well against Chicago, but tonight he was real good. He did a good job of focusing on tonight and when you get that type of goaltending you are going to have a chance to win games."

Commenting on the Blue Jackets first home victory …
"We wanted to make amends for (what happened last Friday). I thought we had a great start and had numerous opportunities to get that first goal. Their goaltender was good and made some big stops in the first. We held on a little bit in the third period, but we found a way to win."

Nash

Blue Jackets Right Wing Rick Nash
Commenting on his first goal…

"Good things happen when you throw the puck at the net. I missed on the breakaway and missed a couple other opportunities, so seems like the funny one would go in there."

Commenting on tonight's game…
"We were trying to have quick transitions, and anytime we got a turnover, we were trying to go right away and get the puck up. In that case tonight it worked."

MacKenzie

Blue Jackets Center Derek MacKenzie
Commenting on his semi-breakaway goal tonight…

"I actually slipped it five-hole. It was a little bit of a guessing game I'd say."

Commenting on tonight's game…
"I thought we played well. Do we have room to improve, yeah. There we a few parts in the game where we took penalties. Those are things on some nights that are going to catch up to us. For the most part the guys had a gritty hard working game. We did exactly what we planned to do and we got the two points."

Ducks Head Coach Randy Carlyle
Commenting on tonight's game…

"I think we did some things very well, but we made some mistakes too. We give up a goal to (Derek) MacKenzie, a slap shot into the pads, that's a mistake. The next thing you know (Rick) Nash gets a goal it kind of goes off our defenseman, but it was an odd man rush. You just can't continue to give those rushes up. Tonight our power play was good in some situations, as far as creating chances. But in the latter part we just stood around and didn't really move and attack the box. We got some shots, but everything was from the perimeter."
