Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I am very impressed with our team coming off that successful road trip. I wasn't sure how we were going to play. We did a good job of limiting their chances. It was a good start for us out of the gate and it helped our legs. We're in our building and we have to learn to win in this building."

Commenting on the play of goaltender Steve Mason
"Mase was there when he needed to be and made some big stops. Both goaltenders were great on the road for us and it was a big divisional game (tonight). I felt like going against Nashville, Mase was the guy I wanted to throw in there. Our team is so confident with both guys in the net. It was an easy decision (to play Mason tonight). It was a good chance for Mase to make a statement to himself… it was a chance for him to step up and I thought he did a good job."

Blue Jackets Right Wing Rick Nash
Commenting on tonight's game…

"I though it was good. Sometimes you can have that West Coast hangover. We have had it before. I think everyone felt pretty good and we were solid again tonight. We forgot our road trip and just worried tonight against Nashville. We just worried about tonight and that’s why I think we played so well."

Blue Jackets Goalie Steve Mason
Commenting on tonight's game…
"Obviously a shutout is a total team effort and tonight, much like we have had in our past couple of games, the defensemen have been great – a lot of big blocked shots – and they are really making both goaltenders jobs easier."

Commenting on back-to-back shutouts by different goaltenders…
"It's nice to have Matty (Mathieu Garon) here. He has been a huge part of this team ever since he has arrived. He is single-handedly making me better. It’s nice to have a guy come in and pitch shutouts and shutouts early in the year and provide solid play. Then I can step in and push to be better."

Nashville Predators Coach Barry Trotz

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I think tonight it was two teams that were a little bit probably mentally tired from the road a little bit. It was a team that could get the lead and maintain the lead. I think both teams were probably not physically tired but mentally tired. We didn't practice yesterday. I was a little disappointed in terms that we didn't come out with a little more pop. We had two many guys that were passengers tonight. On the other hand you need everyone going because they don’t give you a whole lot, and they didn’t give a whole lot. Once they got that first goal they had a lot of people back and you have to get pucks behind them and then they have to retrieve them and then they have to make something happen. And they didn't allow that, they played really well. They are on top of their game right now."
