Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on tonight's game…

"It was a great game. Mat(hieu Garon) was outstanding and we got off to a great start. We scored on the power play, our top line looked good and our role players were good. We got after them and got a power play goal. When it was 2-0 we got that third goal. Anytime you get a shutout against a real good team like Montreal, it's a sign of growth for our team."

Commenting on the goaltending…
"I look at the schedule and see what days either goaltender needs rest. Right now, Matty was outstanding (tonight) and he deserves opportunities to play. He's been good from training camp all the way through to tonight. I have a lot of confidence in both goaltenders. We have 1-A and 1-B."

Blue Jackets Goalie Mathieu Garon

Commenting on tonight's game…

"We played a solid game. Like the game against Philadelphia, we got a two goal lead and it's a lot easier for a goalie to battle with a lead where you just have to protect the lead I think that is easier. We blocked a lot of shots tonight, we played well. It was just a great team effort and the way the guys worked offensively it was good to see."

Blue Jackets Right Wing Rick Nash

Commenting on tonight's game…

"It's a historic team. You expect people to come and watch a team like that with all the history they have. We played one of our best games of the season to beat them so that’s very special.

Commenting on play of Garon…
"I said it before the season he could be a number one goalie with a lot of teams. We are lucky to have two number ones."

Montreal Head Coach Jacques Martin

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I think we will analyze the game. I think the third period was our best period. I thought that we were more direct in our attack and I think we have some lines that are creating some opportunities and other lines are not. We will have to look at the video and see what solutions we need to bring for our next game. We just have to get back to playing strong away from the puck and be a little more direct in our attack."
