Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on tonight's game…

"Tonight was one of those mental games and the guys were a little bit tired at times and mentally we weren't real sharp with some of our assignments. That's part of what this big push is all the way home, it's going to be 50 percent mental and 50 percent physical. When you don't feel like you have your legs, it's about making sure you do the right things and making the right decisions. We gave ourselves a chance to win the hockey game. It's disappointing (to lose tonight)."

Commenting on the play of team after the first period…
"Well, first of all we took three penalties in a row and that didn't help a whole lot. It took away from our momentum. They're a veteran team and they got their game going and they changed their lines around a little bit. We started to do some things with the puck that we weren't doing in the first period, made some bad decisions and created some odd man situations the other way. The first goal, Mase (goaltender Steve Mason) didn't see it and they got the momentum from there."

Blue Jackets Left Wing Rick Nash

Commenting on tonight's game…

"It was a tough one tonight. We had a great first and then sat back after that and lost on a tough goal. We had a lot of energy in the first. And in the second period they seemed to take it to us and take over the game."

Blue Jackets Left Wing Kristian Huselius

Commenting on tonight's game…

"Obviously it looked like we didn't have the energy in the second and third. When you get tired, you make the mental errors, and that's what happened in the second and third and we couldn't come back after that."

San Jose Head Coach Todd McLellan

Commenting on tonight's game…

"This wasn't the plan by any means. Obviously the first period we weren't alert, we didn't have our legs underneath us and we weren't very competitive. To come back was a nice thing. I think our goaltender (Anti Niemi) had a huge part in that. As Trent Yawney said 'a win is a win' right now beggars can't be choosers and we will take it. Obviously some areas that we are not happy with but we will see what we can do at practice tomorrow and move on.”
