Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel

Commenting on tonight's game…

"I thought we played real hard in that first period, as a group and individuals. It got contagious on the bench and everybody was feeding off of each other. It was a real good start for us and really got us into the game. (Steve) Mason made some big stops and there were a couple of chances there where he certainly bailed us out. He looked confident and our team looked very confident in front of him."

Commenting on the play of Rick Nash and his two goals…
"Rick made two great plays that goal scorers make. I said all year long, he's doing everything he can to prove to critics that he put it out there last year. He's surprised me, I knew he was a great player but his work ethic and compete (are great). I've noticed that he gets real upset when we don't win and don't play the way we can. He's done this and we've seen it before, where he takes the team on his back like (tonight), it was a close game and he was the difference."

Blue Jackets Left Wing Rick Nash

Commenting on his first goal…

"It was a lucky play. I thought I had it stolen wide a couple of times and I just couldn’t hang onto the puck. Same thing happened that time and I just thought I would fire it at the net and good things happen usually when you fire it on net. It went off (New York goaltender Henrik) Lundqvist’s skate and in the net."

Commenting on playing in his Blue Jackets franchise record 544th career game…
"It's a great milestone. I have invested a lot in this franchise and they have invested even more in me. And to be the franchise leader in games played, it means a lot to me."

Blue Jackets Goaltender Steve Mason

Commenting on tonight's game…

"Any time you get a lot of shots, I think it was 12 in the first period, that is a good way to start off the game. Obviously this was a big game for us. We were on a bit of a skid. Hopefully this will get us out of this one."

New York Rangers Head Coach John Tortorella

Commenting on tonight's game…

"It was probably one of our better games the past few weeks. I thought some guys that weren't playing well played well tonight. (Michael) Del Zotto comes in and plays a really good game. (Alex) Frolov played well. Everybody contributed. We played our ass off and it's a tough way to lose on that type of goal. We played a really good game and came up empty."
