Post Game Quotes - Apr. 9 vs. Detroit

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

Blue Jackets Interim Head Coach Claude Noel

"We would have liked to have had a better finish. We started the game, it looked like we were watching the game. The frustrating part of that game is to lose it in the shootout. I think that is the 15th game, overtime or shootout game, we've not succeeded. But the players gave it their all and we should be happy with what they gave us. We hit some posts and we had some chances, but they were taking it to us."

Blue Jackets Captain Rick Nash
"It's disappointing for the fans. You would like to do better. When you start the season, you have one goal and that is to win it all. It didn't happen this year. We have a lot of young players that took some huge steps this year and have gotten their games better. I thought it was a good game for our fans to leave them on. Obviously, we would have liked to get the win. Mase (goaltender Steve Mason) looked like he found his game tonight, he was unbelievable."

Red Wings Head Coach Mike Babcock
"I thought we started alright, but in the middle there, we started to get out skated a little bit, but you know obviously we had a real good third period and we dominated totally huge and we had a lot of opportunities and didn't score but in the end we got what we needed, got some exercise. I thought the team played well and everyone's doing good. And you know, goaltending, it was solid. It was really good, you know you can only stop the ones in the shootout you can make them up, so I thought he played real well for us and we’ve just got to give him confidence."

Red Wings Goaltender Jimmy Howard
"It's a lot of fun, he's (Steve Mason) a great goalie and you know he always plays well against us. He seems to always have good games against us, so you know it's fun. I have take a look down there once in a while because I never know if were going to get any past him, but you know the shootout it does feel good. You know, just being patient out there and having fun now."

Red Wings Defenseman Brad Stuart
"Yeah they both (goaltenders) played well. They made some good saves and there were posts here and there and you know both goalies played well, but it was one of those games where you didn't want to be the one to make the mistake and neither didn't, you know, and it had to go to a shootout."
